Clarke was the faster sprinter, should just have accepted having to start it from the front rather than stopping pedaling when De Marchi didn't want to come through in the final kilometre. Was his race to lose more than anyone else's.

Why? I am not super fond of that category of riders (hardmen-sprinters who can climb well), but among them I like Pedersen best. I like his dry humour, and he's actually a smart rider.

Pedersen being classy in post-race interview, said he felt bad for the breakaway guys because they worked so hard. But, it's a race and the opportunity was there, so, it is what it is.

The break makes it 100% if they both take commited turns in the last kilometer. But it was very predictable that they would start looking at each other, these are cyclists we are taking about.
