UAE was foolish to lead the chase to Carapaz. He was in 9th place on GC, with four other teams that would have defended their positions ahead of him.
UAE hardly chased with Majka riding tempo at the front.

Plapp indicated that he had great legs but that he was pretending to be bad and therefore never pulled. He seemed to be very proud of this successful strategy!
Nah he has the look for "younger" fashion!
Still the way I see it. Trek brought everything together, lots of work, Trek ( Ciccone) getting 3rd, respectable and for Ciccone he had the choice you pose..race against Carapaz taking a suicide move chance, or race Del Toro, Tiberi, Ayuso, Roglic, Yates squared, Tom Pidcock, couple others,Micro-gain for Ciccone? he lost 16 seconds to Carapaz because of Lidl's tactics. And if they got the tactics right in stage nine they would have taken another minute from Roglic. They've been too greedy and forgot about their GC rider.
why would he say this. The point of this strategy is deception. It didn't work out today because of Mads, but you're just screwing yourself over for next time by announcing this. Plappy is not the sharpest rock on the volcano.Plapp indicated that he had great legs but that he was pretending to be bad and therefore never pulled. Slightly odd that Mads caught up again but no Vacek. Maybe he's getting tired. Could have been a good stage for him with fresher legs. Or maybe he was intentionally saving his legs for later. Is Vacek confirmed there? I saw Konrad and Verona but not Vacek.
It was painted especially for the Giro and had the actual Giro trophy in a window - of course it was planned mate![]()
Meh, depends. With Carapaz, Bernal and Ciccone, definitely. With G Thomas, not so much. When Pog isn't racing, racing is pretty fun to watch.
Funny you sort of share my view, crazy risk for marginal reward, huge downside if his legs fell off trying to go for such an explosive effort, uphill, far out..Really a nice attacking win, but I can't help but wonder if the juice was worth the squeeze. Not saying in any way that he shouldn't have attacked, but that was a lot of effort for 14 seconds on Del Toro and 20 on pretty much everyone else. UAE smartly used only their domestiques, if you can call Yates such, to reel him back.
So far he's got more ticks than Rafa Nadal before serving the ball. but I'm sure with time we'll all get used to it. lolView: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nBO4RRJm7pY
Omfg this guy is so awkward 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 He's so adorable. Absolutely not used to media, picking his nose on camera. I'm dying 🤣 😭 😂 😂😂😂
Ticks. And picks! So far he's got more ticks than Rafa Nadal before serving the ball. but I'm sure with time we'll all get used to it. lol
Love the enthusiasm brother! Or sister...Funny you sort of share my view, crazy risk for marginal reward, huge downside if his legs fell off trying to go for such an explosive effort, uphill, far out..
Either way I enjoyed his absolute abandon for logical racing!! Carapaz scored win,few seconds and millions of confidence points when supreme teams couldn't follow as he smeared them.. Guy deserves to feel top of the world, if only momentarily.. Everyone who has ever raced dreams of being able to do that!! I will be cheering on Carapaz until the end for his courage.. Loved it!!
GC wise probably not worth the energy, but a win is a win. Hell, a lot of guys in the top 10 would give away 20 seconds in exchange for a stage win much less win and get 20 seconds to boot.Really a nice attacking win, but I can't help but wonder if the juice was worth the squeeze. The new Simon Gerrans, only 90% dumber.Plapp indicated that he had great legs but that he was pretending to be bad and therefore never pulled. He seemed to be very proud of this successful strategy!
Yep, feel ya on that.GC wise probably not worth the energy, but a win is a win. Hell, a lot of guys in the top 10 would give away 20 seconds in exchange for a stage win much less win and get 20 seconds to boot.
Eh, let's be fair. Races with Pogi can be super fun, he just needs some competition. There've been lots of great Tour de France moments with him and Vingegaard, and MSR and Flanders were both pretty entertaining this year. Roubaix too, though his crash derailed things a bit. I know the long solos are a bit boring once you've seen one, but I find it weird that people then seem to forget all the other races, when he lights things up. First two weeks of the 2023 Tour were wild. When Pog isn't racing, racing is pretty fun to watch.
I am more concerned that Plapp over-celebrated his stage eight victory and this affected his ITT in stage 10. More professionalism is required.Plapp indicated that he had great legs but that he was pretending to be bad and therefore never pulled. He seemed to be very proud of this successful strategy!
Since Van Aert made wheelsucking cool on Sunday, everyone wants to be the new Rui Costa. I like it.
