What does polar bear mean?
In the general sense it's someone who appears in an unlikely place. In this context it's a big guy on a mountain stage who otherwise wouldn't be there unless they get in the break, who gets sent ahead to pull their rider in a valley after they attacked from behind.

That figures. Is this a new metaphor invented in this thread today, or is it in a wider that most of us have apparently never come across before.
