God forbid mentioning it, but the last leadout I remember that insane was Chechu Ruberia in 2001 on Alpe d’huez

If nothing else, much like he was at Sky/Ineos, Carapaz is infinitely more interesting than anybody else that Vaughters has had as a GC bid ever. He's probably attacked more than any Slipstream Sports GC bid since, what, Carthy in 2020? Beyond that, Christ knows.

It has been helped by Simon Yates being possessed by the spirit of Adam Yates, but nevertheless.

When you think about what Roglic meant to the development of Slovenian cycling - a nation of 2.1 million people - imagine what Del Toro will mean to the development of Mexican cycling - a nation of almost 130 million people.

Mexico has always had a great history in marathon/distance running and race walking until the early 2000's.

There is a lot of potential for them to be successful in endurance sports but there doesn't seem to be the investment required.
