Why do they never go all up like initially planned in 2009!?Mammarosa Rifugio (1637m) according to the rumours.

Don't know, but it's not necessary for Blockhaus to be a good MTF if you climb from Roccamorice. Why do they never go all up like initially planned in 2009!?
Since when you're campaigning for "A bit lighter is still good enough"Don't know, but it's not necessary for Blockhaus to be a good MTF if you climb from Roccamorice.
I hope it's unipuerto
For logistical reasons and for a faster evacuation of the area they say. If I remember well only in the 60s and in the 70s they arrived over 2000. In the 21th century they always arrived in Mammarosa, i don't know why they don't take into account Rifugio Pomilio almost 4km above Mammarosa. Anyway in the past they have presented arrivals logistically more complicated like the centre of Assisi Plan de corones or Gardeccia. Why do they never go all up like initially planned in 2009!?
They only canceled the arrival on top for storm in 2009 if I remember correctly. So it's indeed a bit weird. Especially considering the option you just mentioned! For logistical reasons and for a faster evacuation of the area they say. If I remember well only in the 60s and in the 70s they arrived over 2000. Or Gavia - Bormio 2000. Gavia is also better connected to other climbs. It would be possible to do a stage with Mendola or Palade - Tonale - Gavia - Bormio 2000. That option would also have a decent backup option if Gavia had to be cancelled due to weather.Frankly, I'm a bit salty the Giro d'Italia doesn't use StilfserJoch-Bormio 2000 in this century of long-range attacks!
Gavia-Bormio 2000 wasn't exactly a success in 2004. Hence why I prefer the Stilfserjoch from Prad. But the combination you mentioned sounds promising as well.Or Gavia - Bormio 2000. Btw, if I were in the RCS management, I would have given a notice to the regional authorities that usually pays for stages that combos of that type (big climb - small climb) is preferable to these steep climbs poorly connected to other climbs.
There's nothing wrong with the descent, they also used the descent as the finale of the 2017 stage to Bormio. They've done the Stilfserjoch in 2020 & 2005 so the Stelvio descent is definitely doable.

0 issues with thatThere's nothing wrong with the descent, they also used the descent as the finale of the 2017 stage to Bormio.
The problem is that the approach to the north side of the Stelvio doesn't really link very well with any other climbs, it's basically a long valley road.
How legit is that?![]()
I'm pretty sure the start/finish locations are correct. The stage routes are mostly speculation though. How legit is that?
To me it looks the best since at least 2021, but the big mountain stages apart from Giau still don't seem that great, and even that one is pretty high risk of just being a 5km shootout.
So the best case scenario is like a 6/10.I'm pretty sure the start/finish locations are correct. The stage routes are mostly speculation though.
Really boring. That kind of stages should rather been dropped for some proper medium mountain stages. The Cari-stage looks disappointing
Not like the 2 dropped climb where that hard anyway
Dude i was dreaming about Gotthardpass-Furkapass-Nufenenpass. Let me shed some tears. Not like the 2 dropped climb where that hard anyway
This would suggest very few sprint stages, a lot of nice transitional/medium mountain stages, and a lot of MTFs. None of the high mountain stages look particularly interesting, though, other than Stage 19.![]()

I think Blockhaus as a early MTF is very good. The Pila stage is also quite good. Piani di Pezze stage could be anyting. I think the most likely scenario there is action only on the last 5 kms.Wouldn't make a big difference. It would still be all about the MTF.
I don't like the mountain stages at all. Okay, Pezze can be good.
To be honest, the article eshnar sent suggested that there's a lot of scope for something like that. Stage 2, 4, 5, 8, 13, 17 all could be tricky medium mountain stages, and 11/12/18 are interesting, too. I'm sure some of them will turn into flat stages.proper medium mountain stages like Sappada or Torino 2022.
Okay. I interpreted the Cicloweb article in a way that no profile meant fairly flat stage. But you're of course right that stages to like Andalo and Fermo wont be that.To be honest, the article eshnar sent suggested that there's a lot of scope for something like that.
