I think it is a little too short for Vino, but would expect him to go all out and podium. I agree with some other poster's about Pinotti, Millar, or Wiggo. Looking at those pictures though I predict one big favorite is going down in one of those turns. I'll go with Pinotti (to win not fall). Can't wait!

Only showing highlights during the week.:( But they still show Tour of Cali live which is not that excting in comparison to il giro.

Not so exciting !!!???

Don't even put Tour of California in the same sentence as Giro d'Italia old photos !

Vino is an aggressive rider, you can bet he's going all out for the win

Cadel will be best served to let him have it. make astana defend the jersey for the first week and tire them out a little. If a BMC rider wins it, Cadels Giro may be compromised by doing to much work early on

+1
The BMC boys will do alright but won't be challenging for the win. Quite a few better than them in the short tt's.

Look out for Larsson he could take it, he is the 2 in the world against the clock. Hopefully is his form there

Rabon is riding isn't he? I always guess him for short time trials(i think he's not bad at them)...

Rabon is excellent when it's a flat course with as few turns as possible. I think this is for other riders. Maybe Pinotti.

According to Mike Tomalaris (from SBS) they can't afford to cover the Giro. ToC is cheaper. SBS is govt funded. It's probably true.

EDIT: Just remembered, they do have some commercial advertising but I think are still primarily govt funded, so have a very tight budget

direction of funds perhaps?
have they already forked out a monster wad for the world cup?
(if they've got the rights for it)

yep, sbs has the tv rights to the world cup, which im assuming would be rather expensive.

im enjoying the british eurosport channel on foxtel which has shown all of the big classics and will show the giro :D

Hey, I'm playing an awesome fantasy cycling online game, but I'm not quite an expert as you guys are:

My Team for the TT in Amsterdam is: (price budget is 10)

Farrar (price 3,5)
Pinotti (price 1,0)
Rabon (price 1,0)
Millar (price 1,4)
Wiggins (price 2,3)
Meyer (price 0,6)

It would be really awesome if some of you who knows these guys could tell me what's the probability of each of these drivers getting a TOP 20 result (that's the important thing in this game).

looks like a course for a ballsy rider with well tuned engine. i don't see anyone matching vino. well may be wiggins. i know only one thing for sure, basso will be off the back with at least 15 seconds.

That's a pretty good selection. I think 8km might be a bit long for Farrar to stay with the specialists, but Rabon, Pinotti, Millar and Wiggins should all make the top 20 if they ride as well as we know they can. Cam Meyer is a decent outside shot.

hmm, I could substitute Jack Bobridge vor Cam Meyer, since they are the same price.
Does any of you guys know both and can tell me who's the better pick for a top 20 result??

Bobridge shows nothing in this year's TT up to now . C Meyer, i only know he wants to complete Giro. They both are no slouch at TT. But how good result will they get in Giro? I will take it with a pinch of salt.

Both about the same I'd say, but Meyer has been off the bike for longer so it's harder to gauge what kind of shape he's in.

Meyer.

Alternatively, trade down for Farrar and trade up Bobridge for someone a bit better.

in this game you can't make more than 50 changes in the 21 stages, I should also consider this, that's why I try to find cheap riders. I can just hang on to them until the team time trial and still have a good team for the sprints without wasting too many team changes.
After the TT in Amsterdam I'm probably gonna sell Wiggins and Millar, Pinotti or Rabon and try to get Greipel, Sutton and Merlo for the sprints, along with farrar, of course.
That way I should make a decent amount of points in the TT's and the sprints of the first week, without wasting too many changes that can be decisive in the end.

Bobridge is freshman. He will out after the second week, just like last year's C Meyer.

20, 12 and 8 at the line. 6, 4 and 2 at intermediates, iirc.

ah, thx, didn't know that.

That obviously increases the chances that Farrar will try his best in Amsterdam for the chance of getting the leader's jersey.

As far as I know, bonus seconds usually aren't awarded in time trials or prologues, if that is what you are thinking.
