Lead-out trains? Who needs 'em. 4% slope? Who cares. Interview in Italian? No problem.

Breathing is a different challenge though. Can't they let the guy rest for a minute? ;)

Damn, Ventoso had the perfect lead out then I guess Pettachi on the outside stopped him from spring out the slipstream. Cav followed the right wheel. Easy win in the end.

Wow, Gazzetta interview the winner first! Normally its the first Italian across the line.

Boy it is painful to watch Cav struggle through an interview in Italian when he can hardly breathe.

Cavendish
Ventoso
Petacchi
Ferrari
Appollonio

Appollonio has been putting in top 10s in every sprint without much in the way of team support, I'd like to see Sky try to put together a bit of a train for him some time. It's not like they have anything else to do at this Giro.

cav is doing his worst year so far so I don't see him standing a chance on this final course. it's a real powersprint final

Fischer was going well but had to pull up or get put into the barriers by a slowing Movistar rider.

Cavendish is just too good for the rest.

Makes for an easier sprint when you have a perfect leadout from the 2nd best sprinter in the race. Cav needs to thank Ale for that.

I've never seen a racer leader act this way.

I'm guessing he wanted to make 100% not to get involved in anything at that bottleneck.

It looks like Petacchi just lost second place because he did his usual "I'm not going to win so I may as well coast across the finish line" crap.

I hate this attitude: winning is everything, so it's not even worth trying to get second place. It's bad for bike racing.

This arrogance is the main reason I'm never happy to see Petacchi win a race.

Because he can do better.

btw, AK 9th.

meh.
Guys like Ale Jet and Cav are clearly better.
Ventoso also, on a finish like this no doubt.
I'd rate ferrari higher too. A few others here too.

Awww... So cute. If you're going to have blind, unquestioning belief in something, with no rational basis for doing so, join the Catholic Church.
