Btw, today's final climb is another 'support motorbikes only' affair and it even has some gravel roads near the top (unless Zomegnan paved them over).

But of course there are no complaints from the teams as far as I'm aware.

Zoncolan is also motorbikes only, so they have no reason to complain because Gardeccia is 4kms shorter.

I'm just wondering if this climb is the same they did in 1976 under the name of Torri di Vajolet. Anyone knows?

They showed images from 1976 a few minutes ago in the studio and back when the route was rumored I remember Gardeccia being also referred to as Torri di Vajolet

I'm concerned Nibali's more likely to wait until the descent of Fedaia, by which time it may be too late and it's mano a mano and he's playing catchup. That's why I said Arroyo first, since he's in the usual Arroyo area in the Giro (10th) but after last year has aspirations to something more, so may be willing to risk it. If he goes, and Nibali goes with him, we could have a race on as two breathtaking descenders could put some time in on the descent of Giau, plus Nibbles would find himself a very useful ally on Fedaia.

However, I don't think this will happen, I'm just hoping out loud.
