No he isn't... or is he? I'm pretty sure the stage report said Arroyo defended it...

Maglia Rosa != Maglia Rossa.

Evans is back in the points jersey.

Ah, see I glossed over a sentence in the link. The sentence is '…it is his first grand tour that he is going to finish'. I stopped at first grand tour.

And why approach this slightly apologetically? If something is wrong people should be able to point out where the error lies. I'm not offended for being told I'm wrong.

I'm getting used to people on this forum having a....aheeem....slightly different reaction :p

Well, maybe an oversensitivity to criticism results from being aligned too tightly to a specific rider or team. I like a handful of riders and a few teams, so any criticism isn't going to hit too hard because I don't strongly identify with either one cyclist or team.

Me, I'd rather cheer for an exciting race.

I stopped reading the race report after these two brilliant lines.

The dreaded Monte Zoncolan hosted a Giro finish for the third time in the race's history with the peloton going up the west side for the first time

the biggest gap the 1:19 between second and third, Evans and Scarponi

In the race report? Seriously?

I thought that comment was particularly poor.

Yes it would have been a shock and possibly painful for the rider but the fan is actually reaching out to wave into the camera on the back of the lead motorbike and has no idea that the rider is there.

Basso rode a beautiful climb today, so strong. But unlike 2006 you could see the pain in his face, instead of a smile.

Meaning?...

[edit] know wha you're implying, but facial expression isn't a reliable test for EPO.

Fantastic stage. Went over it once again.
To think that the Kronplatz, Mortirolo, and Gavia are yet to come.
This is the best Grand Tour I saw in the 23 years of following pro cycling.
Complimenti to Zomegnan, especially for not paying the huge appearance fee to LA. Having him in the race would have subtracted from the racing, which has been AWESOME:D!!!

Once again, amazed by Pinotti on such a steep climb. Kudos!

Evans talks about his gearing
With the gearing, all the serious guys rode 'compact' crank sets, usually a 34 in front from what saw. I had a bit of trouble with the large spacing between the gears. Not something that is usually a problem climbing. With yesterday's effort in the legs, I rode a big larger gear than preferred. Not the right way, but when it's the only way..... Second for me today.

Evans about the fans
Well a few 'spinge's' (pushes) don't go astray on a really steep one like that. "Don't push him, he's a foreigner" I heard a spectator yell. Not quite as ridiculous as one Italian rider in my team mates group: "Stop pushing the foreigners!" he yells at the spectators.

Wow. Wonder what he will come up with next time he loses.

I found it quite funny actually. He acknowledged that Baso was the better man on the day. I thought evans could of played it a bit smarter by riding his own tempo instead of staying with basso and then collapsing.
