Liquigas could be in trouble by pushing the pace for so long. Smyzd is all they have left to pull for Nibali and Basso. Is he going to pull the entire next climb and the beginning of the Zoncolan? Maybe they'll have someone come back on during the descent who can drill it at the start of the next climb.

Universal showing 28.6 to go right now.

Seems like they've got a fair number of their riders back.

If Szmyd is setting the pace on the next climb, too, riders might start to come back. Maybe Laeky is going to sacrifice Nibali (Basso'll still need him to descend, though).

would be foolish to sacrifice the better placed rider. Their 2 man attack will be much more valuable on the final climb.

I dont think on the Zoncolan they are going to need someone to push the pace, they will be going that slow that sitting on the wheel we have no effect. so they should push early and use the strength of their numbers.

Porte looked heaps better there.

I think Basso/Evans will be in a class of their own today. Maybe Nibali and Scarponi will join them again.

It is that kind of thinking that leads me to suspect Nibali will pull for Basso on the hill and try and set Basso up. I think Basso is in better overall form. Will find out in 20kms.

On the surface, yes, but maybe Nibali knows he doesn't have it in him to compete here?

Yeah great, why can't they start these races early in the morning. Very inconsiderate for us Antipodeans who need to work tomorrow, scratch that, Today. :(

Vino is looking comfortable. Sastre is there near the front. Was going up a bit. He'll pounce today I think. If Liquigas burn their riders out, it helps him as the pace won't be that big at the start of the final climb and he can attack and then go at his own pace.

Arroyo is being overlooked here. If he only loses a minute or two he might be trouble for the big boys.
