Well, the stage money is for the team not for the rider. And it isn't a lot either. So if he really get's decently paiyed better, he had a financial reason to change teams.
Still, the Idea seems to be stupid.

I didn't mean the prize money for winning the stage directly, but his increased value for commercials etc by winning a lot.

Ah allright. This way it makes much more sense.
The question would be how good his standing is right now in countries where he can be used for commercials. And how much this is affected by how well he does in the Tour. And also of course it would be important how much he can actually earn from this.
A better/much better contract is safe money, future success is always a gamble.

I still can't believe in it. Sky should be able to pay him what he want's and it would make much more sense to go to sky also from a commercials etc. point of view.

I already watched the F1, and footballers throwing themselves on the floor every handful of seconds doesn't float my boat.

It looked like a borefest before I went to watch the F1, and I came back from watching the F1 to find nothing had changed whatsoever in those 2 hours.

When you only have a third of your stages at weekends when you have the larger audience, this feels like a huge waste.

What a pity that tennis starts today at 18:30 CET :D

Oh well, we discussed what a huge waste this route was when they announced it. It is what it is, it hasn't deviated from expectations.

Save your complaining for when they soft pedel the 37th mountain stage.
See, everybody else has already been moaning about how dull the stage is. But when I join in, I get jumped on. It IS dull, and there's no getting around it.

I only started reading at the moment you posted (I too can watch Vettel qualify first and parade around without ever having to actually race).

That and you have form - try flying under the radar for a few sprint stages and someone else might pick up the mantle.

Cav got over first GPM, but not McEwen, with the bunch. The latter got no help from Radio Shack, which means they don't believe in him and have another agenda.
The All-Important Team Classification. ;)

The peloton doesn't want to catch Lang.

I'm quite shocked HTC isn't responding, maybe Cavendish isn't feeling to great after the climb otherwise I don't understand it.

Was I seeing things, or were Blanco and Ardila off the back on that climb?

even if you weren't it's hardly panic stations. Save energy, guys, your GC position is of no relevance to us, we might need you in the mountains later.
