Meh, from where Mollema had to come from, having pfeiffer, having illness in march, and even during the Giro he had some lesser days with illness, he did very well.
Don't forget many riders never really get to their old level after pfeiffer.
The suprise factor of Porte and Kruijswijk is much bigger ofcourse. But I still think of the 3, Mollema has the best future

Dekker and Youngest are just being Orange ACFs at the moment.

that is a little harsh (no one is that bad) my friend :D

DT: I think so to. But based on this giro, porte no doubt has a big future also, and mollema still has a lot to learn.

Same for me, but that's not the issue.

Kruijswijk is more beyond what I expected from him coming from the espoirs though.

Kiserlovski, Mollema and Porte have all been brilliant and plenty of other young riders have shown alot as well. Kiserlovski suffered because he had to work for Basso, where as Mollema and Porte had team support. Mollema was the better climber, Porte is the better time trialler. Porte avoided all of the crashes, there can't be many who did that, and it was probably a bit of luck that got him the 11 minutes.

Yup exactly, that would mean Arroyo was by far the best, according to them.
Oh well forget about it. Mollema is the better climber than Porte and Porte is the better time trial specialist and got free time. Well played.
Since Mollema is 2 years younger and only rides a bike since 5 years, he'll have a lot more progression margin anyway

Porte is also a late comer to bike racing as well, he was originally did triathlons.

Lovely, lovely aggression, attitude and spirit from Cadel! Not sure about you guys/gals, but I find inspiration in the fact that he rarely gives up.

He declared he would be pushing sh*t uphill to get a podium spot. Just goes to show if you keep testing yourself and who knows what might happen.

PS - I think many are unaware of the psychological issues that "Cuddles" Cadel has had to deal with throughout his life. Allowances can be made in certain instances. Cadel does credit to himself and his country (which is pretty proud of him).

The importance of having a strong team supporting you

Top 8 GC:

1. Basso 00:00
2. Arroyo + 1:15
3. Nibali + 2:56
4. Scarponi + 2:57
5. Evans + 3:47
6. Porte + 7:25
7. Vino + 7:31
8. Sastre + 8:55

Take out the TTT:

1. Arroyo 00:00
2. Basso + 1:06
3. Scarponi + 1:39
4. Evans + 3:32
5. Nibali + 4:02

That is not counting all the energy Arroyo, Evans, and Scarponi had to spend chasing on their own (mostly Evans).

well if were gonna take out the TTT we should take the breakaway out too, which would still make basso the rightful winner.

But that being said, The liquigas train is where teamwork counted most. It worked perfectly to basso's benefits.

Liquigas gotta be a major variable in basso's -likely- victory.

Why take the breakaway out?
Individuals, opportunity grabbing is not the same as having a super strong team to hand out a handicap to the rest.
Besides which, Liquigas did nothing to chase that break.

Anyone speak better Italian than me here? What was he saying?

Kudos to Sastre for trying today, if he was going to get the kind of time he needed he had to try to push the gap on that first climb. Liquigas were just too strong and too well-organised today.

Simoni was saying that this was his last climb and that he wanted to take it easy on this final little climb and really enjoy it and see everything

You're lucky that most of the Aussie (the annoying ones at least) have decided that this Giro isn't worth watching anymore

Like Cuddles they hide until he does something and then they post about 10 topics telling us how great he is and how he is soooo misunderstood and isn't an annoying f-ugly, squeaky voiced wheelsucker.
