Please let them neutralise this stage. If they don't, I think I'll just shut the TV off... I really don't feel like looking at a sprint now.

Hope he's ok..

they showed a close up of his face. Right side of his face was horrendously misfigured, and an awful lot of bloody. Worst ive ever seen. Worse than Casartelli.

Host broadcasters need to be seriously held to account. I feel sick. God knows how kids who saw it are feeling.

And to me it looked like his neck was cranked in a horribly unnatural way as well...

Well, it's good that the peloton moved away to make sure whatever emergency vehicle needs to get to the injured rider doesn't get held up anywhere. But yes, racing for the finish now seems weird to put it mildly.

I'm sure they have a helicopter for such an emergency.

for god this is a race this guys are pro's and know the risks

they can't go around neutralising a stage or race everytime some1 crashs doesn't matter how serious the crash is

A man could be dead. That means nothing to you?

Horrible crash, and yes, unfortunately the filmed it, but I think the most important thing is they aren't going back to it now - it's a damn difficult judgment call with crashes.

And although it's difficult to focus on the race afterwards, I agree the show must go on - it's the unfortunate calculated risk of the sport... Or I don't know, maybe not.

:( :(

I think, for the sake of the feelings of individuals on here who do not agree with you, and to stop from causing a full out argument that leads to warnings and bannings, I think now would be a good time not to put forward your opinion.

At least until we know how serious his injury is.

did they neutralise the horrilio stage? dont think they did, not saying I feel like seeing racing atm, because this image just puts the some things into perspective.

They might not neutralize today's stage, but in 2009 they neutralized the next day's stage. So tomorrow I would expect a much slower day.

Fingers crossed for Wouter. Hope Leopard wins today.

Not encouraging news. They're trying to reanimate him (all the medical stuff in hand) but he's still unconscious and has lost enough blood. The situation appears critical :(

So what you're saying is if a man was dead (and if they had to reanimate him Weylandt was dead) that's not good enough of a reason because they're 'pro's'.

People who work in construction are also pro's, do you think they go on working if one of their colleagues dies from an accident?

the cyclists don't know if he is dead and if i were a DS i wouldn't tell them

it it is really really sad if he is dead but please people here are way over-sensitive.

The climb starts more or less now, so we will know if they are racing or not. Lampre look like they are.

I guess I saw only one very quick close shot at the beginning, perhaps the camera guy didn't immediately realize how serious the injury was. Maybe there were other close in shots I missed.

I'm a bit more bothered that the commentators are not providing any update or paying attention to the accident. I've not heard any mention of the crash recently. Been checking some twitter feeds and not seeing any news.

F*&k. Don't care about the stage. Just hope, hope, hope he survives and makes a full recovery.

Puts this cycling fan thing into a shockingly different perspective, doesn't it?

The commentators on Belgian TV are paying a lot of attention to it but it seems they simply don't know anything. I'm sure the second they find out anything they will tell the viewers.
