Astana a little bit behind at first check, but now the first part was wet, the second part is dry. So I think they'll still do well.

Oh wow, Liquigas absolutely killed the second half of the course. They clearly felt the benefit of staying together and not dropping guys like Sky and Garmin did.

Seriously good ride from Leaky, have a horrible feeling Astana are going to shred the 2nd half now though.

They were having a go at ACF about him expecting the Rabo newfies to do a good ride now they do a good ride and they say I told you so. I know its racing BMC did a good ride no-one was expecting them to be within 1.10 of Sky, so I put that down as a win.

+1

Basso has a big lead over evans and liquigas now. will be interesting.

That result hurts Evans.

He was okay with the Cervelo result... but Liquigas has guys who can climb. That's a lot of time to make up of Basso/Nibali in the mountains.

Quoting myself here. I think we saw that effect with Leaky. Astana could still take this.

All teams who did an easier first part and spared some riders take a lot of time in the second part.

BMC blown up a lot of riders early and lose time. Sky shed a lot of riders early, and lost a lot of time in the 2nd part..

It's clearly not the wind, but the way teams handle the TTT. Liquigas kept all their men until 1500m...

So, the question now is....is Basso just going to follow wheels the whole time?

I would assume so... I see him just following Sastre and Evans. Perhaps he'll have to make a move to drop Vino... but I think most people expect him to lose some time naturally in the high mountains.
