Well... if he wheel rides with the leaders to the top of climbs, one would think he'd be good enough with the extra energy he'd have saved to take his share of any bonuses available.

It's Basso. He's the slowest sprinter in the peloton. Karpets can beat him for god's sake.

The rainy part moved from the second part of the course (for early teams) to the first part (for later teams). So early teams who shed a lot of riders got a disadvantage over later teams who could use up some of the weaker guys on the bad patches.

Anyway, only team out is Astana with 6 riders?

BMC did an excellent TTT
Correct, irrespective of conditions and what other teams did, they rode well as a team; and that is what Cadel needs over the next three weeks.

BMC did an excellent TTT, I expected them to lose more. I just don't think the wind was that much of a factor here.
There was also more rain for the teams that started later, for example Sky. There are just too much factors to say the external influences where decisive.

The thing that is most decisive is still the strength of the teams... so I see this, without falls, as a fair result whatsoever

I really don't look at Lotto's team and see "strength", nor do I see Caisse as weaker then many that finished ahead of them (including BMC). It feels to me like conditions did play some role.

Yes, Astana will be the last team to finish. Now with 5.

I agree with all of this. BMC did do well. Better then I thought.

Even on an uphill finish? Or are we thinking more about flat/downhill finishes after a climb?

Vino did a Cadel from last year's TdF TTT and didn't look after his team in the push to the finish, good result for Cadel.

WELL! What a race. Four stages, four lead-changes. One would imagine that Nibali would be able to defend it tomorrow, but with the way this Giro has been going...
