it seemed when i posted, that they were coming up. teams will continue on as the hard, descisive parts are coming up.

I don't get the sense the second group is very organized at all. Cervelo wasn't driving when it was a manageable gap of 15", which I found strange.

Looks like Astana was forced to the front. I don't think they want to be there.

The only explanation I can see for not chasing is that Sastre knows he can't compete.

So, I'm guessing he'll roll on, recover and try to win stages later.

How prepared was Cervelo for this race? Sastre said that it was a main goal for the team, but looks like he is losing time on nearly every stage. I know the crashes messed things up in the Netherlands, but they have no one but themselves to blame for today.

I didn't know any were in the first group. If that's true, that's about as good an indication that he's given up hope as any.

It can only mean that Sastre is really duffering and can't cope with anything faster than they are doing now. Otherwise it makes no sense at all.
