And is Visconti using aero gear?

A of of non-testers discount the advantages, but they are huge.

Great effort by Visconti, I think this is the first real target time for the big guns, although others have already beaten his time with almost a minuten at the first intermediate. The difference with the slowest riders today will be immense. What's the time limit actually?
25 % of the winner's time today (excluding special cases, like accidents).

No aero clip-ons for di Luca, is that what I saw?
Armstrong must have some problems, maybe his back is hurting?

According to Bettini, in a couple of turns he made some mistakes.

Ya, it's usually very hard to miss the time limit on time trials....
Though this one is arguably more difficult than a flat one.

Simoni is 1.10 behind at the first time check.

Not seen Menchov, but di Luca has no aero bars and looks far too urgent/choppy/upright for early part of TT. Could lose big time yet.

But Armstrong actually improved in the descent. Now he is 29 seconds from Garzelli.

Yes, expect him to improve, can't wait for Menchov's time checks to see where we are at.

Lövkvist almost 2 minutes behind on first point. His legs are obviously feeling the strain of the race so far.

Lance is again at Brajkovic's pace for 2nd time check.

Maybe slower starters will do better here, unlike the usual flat long TT's, where winners dominate all time checks.

Ouch, thought this course may suit him too.

Yes, very big differences between time checks (see Bosisio).

Armstrong, Basso, Sastre all with similar times at the first check.
