Great stage. We see breaks win a lot but rare for a breakaway rider to have 1 min 45 over the others and another break rider to take the stage.

Tiralongo was always the strongest from that break.

He attacked what.. like 10 times?

And those attacks didn't tire him at all :D
Amazing such energy and spirit at old age. Where does he gets it from. :D

Clearly the fine tuscan wine. Speaking of red substances, it's a monday rest day next...

Porte was kinda smart for not working. Still don't get why Contador was taking turns.

Because somehow Aru convinced him to work, for what is anyone's guess. Then he hosed Contador at the end and got some choice words at the end. Not terribly smart.

he is trying to put more time to Uran. Uran is better in ITT .. he won last year in ITT remember?

LOL.. aru only gains 1 second on Contador after that sprint?

Aru wants the maglia rosa. And he's going to get it at some point.

If it was so dumb and such a waste of energy for Aru to sprint, why did Contador give it everything chasing him ?

Come on guys. The guy enjoys sprinting. And racing. Enjoy ;)
this is 3 week race, tacticaly very demanding, this was extremely stupid

Then it's Aru's task to drop everyone on Mortirolo. Then he doesn't have to work with them anymore :D

Next year, maybe.

Great stage, Astana did very well, they are crazy strong.

I am sad for the result, but cycling is what matters.

It wasn't dumb or a waste of anything to sprint. It was dumb to burn a bridge with Contador.

Contador is looking good. I think he's going to crush the ITT (assuming he's aero position isn't compromised by shoulder)

Well, I don't think Aru did anything terribly wrong. I mean, it's not like he forced Contador to do some work, they talked and apparently Contador agreed it made sense for them to work together.

Besides, Aru wasted energy sprinting, but Contador had to sprint too, so it's not like he spent more than others (except Landa, who is looking incredibly strong).

What bridge ? They are opponents (thankfully)

I agree with you.

I think it was a really dumb move on the part of Fabio, and all he got in return was ONE second.

Aru has unofficially given Contador a free license to work with Porte to f-him over and under from now on.

How about Contador in so much shoulder pain yesterday that he takes seconds on unsuspicious young Aru in an intermediate sprint?

all in all.. TS has already left the door for other team to take pink. Even astana has thrown kitchen sink on the limping pink leader, and still Contador hold the lead. Aru can't even take 4 seconds back out of Contador!!! second week is going to be thrilling. Rest day comes just in time.
