Got to agree with EP. Comparing the original GTA and GTA London to the current, 1st person games is pointless. Completely different.

Umm no I was the one who said comparing the original gtas to todays gtas was pointless and that they are completely different:rolleyes:

Proof.

Comparison - El P.

Can you figure out why I consider GTA London to be different to modern gta games then, Pisti?

Yeah, organized crime in big cities is something that only happens in American culture

gta is about bashing american "culture" in gta 4 if you watched tv or listened radio it was hilarious. it's more anti-america satire than family guy.

every gta should be in usa and stereotypical usa areas like miami 80s, california, or new york

Well release date for the game hasnt been announced though a retailer says its coming out on November 23rd next year.

http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/xbox-360/gta-grand-theft-auto-v-5/10569985.html

But yeah, probably means PS4 will not come out for another year as I doubt they would release it right before the PS4 came out.

Hopefully they are working for a PS4 game already.

PS2 came out in what, 2001 was it? Then PS3 in 2007 I think so 6 years. Its been 4 since PS3 came out so maybe 1 or 2 more years.

I'm hoping it comes out this april like 4 did.

btw are there any serious game collectors and retro gamers here?

The Wii U is utilizing a totally new control system.

which is a shame.

But thier main emphasis is entering in the HD scene.
I saw a preview of zelda in HD, looked pretty neat.

PS. I assume you played the new zelda, any good?

RDR is GTA set 100 years ago. They couldnt call it GTA because theres no Autos but everything else about it is the same.

well rdr was a spiritual successor to red dead revolver. Just better executed, with more similarities to gta (sandbox). Both Western themed, same gameplay elements.

But yeah similar gameplay to gta.

-btw i think ps3 creators wanted the system to have a 10 year cycle. maybe we can put that down to 8. I reckon 2015 or there abouts.

@ryo, depends what you mean by serious game collectors. I mean I probably play too much games as it is (when I get a chance, been difficult in the summer). As for retro games, well I don't play the olders games as much anymore, still have all the old systems stored somewhere

I'm currently playing this game bioshock, it's actually pretty cool; one of my favorite of this generation.

Can't wait.

Bought EFLC recently. Lopez is the real deal.
Those Bikers are gay.

All that editing brings extra fun. That's why I prefer this game on PC.
Nice cars out there. LC is full of German and Italian cars right now.

Airwolf, Ferrari FXX, Batmobil, Audi R8 currently welcoming me when I come out. :D

Will try the SA mod soon. Looks impressive.

It is one thing for you to claim there is no god, but for you to say that GTA is the greatest game ever is a statement I cannot suffer. Sir, Gran Turismo is the single greatest series in the history of video games bar none (I think Internet will back me up on that)...well, that and the Medal of Honor series (online multiplayer specifically)

Gran Turismo peaked at number 2. Number 3 was good, but that game came out in 1999. Been all downhill since. Gran Turismo 5 took 6 years to develop. During that time Codemasters released Grid which is a far superior game. Then Microsoft's Take 10 studios released Forza 3 and Forza 4. Forza 3 buried Gran Turismo and Forza 4 proved they have the best racing game in the market. Best racing game ever made. Only Grid comes close. Polyphony Digital who make Gran Turismo need to be put to rest and dissolved.

Didn't they remake Ocarina? Or update it for Wii?

I haven't played a GTA properly since III, as I don't own a current console. Anyone know what they play like on PC? This package hrotha speaks of sounds tempting.

GTA I and II ftw, I remember lots of fun on the London missions.

Nintendo remade Zelda: Ocarina of Time for their hand held console, the 3DS. Exact remake, just with a 3D element you can toggle on and off. One of the greatest games ever made remade for another generation.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) plays perfectly fine on PC. It has always been designed primarily for PC. GTA 1 and 2 were PC only. GTA 3 I had on PC, that came out about 11 years ago. I had Vice City on PC. The only issue is there is a little less maneuverability using the keyboard. I played all the later titles on console. Console only makes driving a little easier, because the shoulder buttons on controller, particularly the XBox 360 one, act like throttles. The analog sticks also allow more precision than the keyboard key provide. However when it comes to aiming, the mouse trumps all. Starting with GTA3 Rockstar wanted more sales, so they converted it for the PS2. Came out slightly after the PC version. Same with Vice City. GTA4 I believe was developed concurrently across all 3 platforms; PC/360/PS3.

Performance wise...PC wins. But that doesn't matter with the current GTA titles as they are all rather old. GTA5 though is slated for release next year, in the first quarter I believe. Probably a March release. Sony and Microsoft won't have new consoles till 2014 at the earliest. Their hardware is very old in the tech business. GTA5 will look substantially superior on PC, especially newer PC's with high spec graphics cards, CPU and RAM to match the new graphics engine upgrades Rockstar will have developed as have all major game engine designers. Current generation consoles are 6-7 years old, they should have been replaced because they have no more optimisation left for developers to utilise.

The big rival to GTA gaming wise is Saints Row. Saints Row 2 and 3 are much better than GTA4. Better games. They're aimed at the more ridiculous and exaggerated theatrics. GTA4 and I presume 5 will be the same has a level or realness to it. Saints Row handles better, currently looks better (Saints Row 3 came out when this thread started, GTA4 was 4 years old, so naturally it is gonna be refined) but doesn't allow as many people online. The atmosphere in both games is carefully targeted and executed. Neither mimics the other. Saints Row 3 on a PS3 or XBox looks good...on PC it looks amazing. The rendering distances on PC, there is no fade out because the GPU can't handle the rendering. Draw distances are long, sharp and accurate. When GTA5 comes out...I'd say get it on PC. It should be cheaper there, you can always plug in a controller if you prefer it and it will run a lot smoother and visually will be miles better. Right now, even 5-6 year old PC can handle any of the released GTA games.

Another title was released a few weeks back that is similar in design and implementation to GTA and Saints Row. It is called Sleeping Dogs. Made by Square Enix, so it's Asian in origin and is set in Hong Kong.

Check out the video.

As for Hitch and El Pistolero...you're looking way too far into what makes the games popular. The cultural references fly right over most people's head. Sure if you catch the devs ripping into American culture it's hilarious, but it's the freedom to explore, race, fight, rob, steal, fly, kill, maim, bait and have fun in an open world that's the real fun. Short story, GTA is a success because of the GAMEPLAY. Same with Saints Row. Saints Row handling and gameplay ATM is superior by some margin. But the story telling and 30 hour movie element GTA4 brought was slightly better. Also it allowed multiple people online. No hassles, anywhere in the world, with minimal lag. Saints Row is only co-op. Part of the success is gameplay and another is the environment. I'd agree with Hitch if Rockstar switched the in game world to a non replicated USA city, they'd lose some sales. Not a lot, but enough to hurt them and the games adoption rate early on (the period when big $$$ are pulled in). They do USA, because they are yanks. Just like Square Enix do ASIA, because they are Asian. Stick to your strong suit for back story and environment in a game. But if they wanted to go to Italy they could. Just have them all speak English, like they do in Assassin Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations. But there is the problem...all Rockstar games are set in the USA. Even the ones developed off-shore, like Team Bondi who made LA-Noire from Australia. It was set in 1940s LA. Hitch point stands. They adopt a time period and mimic it. It's what they do. That is the 'realism' bit I mentioned.

Do note...their games do have gameplay issues. If GTA5 plays like GTA4 and you can't regenerate health, stealing a car takes a million years (during which you get shot by a donut dunking cop with a shottie) and the AI is so darn accurate shooting, then it'll be a dud game IMO. Vice City was and still is by far the best game in the franchise. San Andreas larger world was a nice improvement...but I can put that down to technical limitations of hardware. I have no doubt the multiplayer will be amusing. Red Dead's and GTA4 still are lots of fun. Same with San Andreas...big following on PC still.

Anyone played LA Noire? I bought it for a fiver on amazon cos i heard it was really good, but all it seems to be is an endless loop of pressing x and triangle to signify whether you think the other character is lying or not. every single case is more or less the same idea.

ps, galic, arent rockstar, and the original gta idea, british?

Wasnt just the expanded map (which i absolutely adored as every area was unique - desert, forest, mountain, barrio, villas, gay district, downtown, casinos, small village, big village, outback etc) but also the fact that you could fly between them with all types of airoplanes and fly the cars with cheats and have races through all terrains, and most awessome of all, the jetpack.

Its all well and good having a 3mph helicopter like in V but a jetpack, now that really is ootw

Anyone buying it soon?

Me, I just feel Ill lose way too much time if I buy it atm. May wait a few months.

got it at midnight launch here. so far amazing. ordering tanks from your internet. lol

Haven't touched the PS for like a year. Got this game today and 2 hours in a little funny sound from the PS appears.. It then shuts down, flashes yellow for a second and then blinks red..

There you have it.. 'ylod' I believe it is called (right?)..

No way I'm paying like 150 for a repair and no way I'm buying a new console.

Typical.. At least I got the game out (by complete coincidence) so I can sell it..

This happened to me once. That is very unlucky. Sony gave me a replacement for 80 squid (about 100 euros). Don't know if thats something you would consider.

There is an off chance your problem is caused by a basic problem so if you aren't doing anything with the PS3, you may try a few basic fixes like if its something in front of the aircon.

Unlikely though.

Was the game good for the 2 or so hours that you played it?

Sorry @D.Decocco! Personally I have stopped gaming a long long time ago. I would play PCM..... but I have a Mac.

But back on topic, here is a funny video about GTA V. Usually I don't like these "College Humour" videos much but this one ain't too bad I think.

GTA V: So realistic it's boring

Did some research on how to fix it from home but I came to the conclusion that I just really couldn't be bothered. It's bought in 2008 and apparently it's very normal for the models produced in that period of time to get this thing. An overheating thing, innit. 5 years old, ridiculously expensive and barely touched it for a year and it overheats.. That's just p'iss poor.

Thought the game was good like. Games don't overwhelm me as such anymore, like the game's predecessors - especially SA - did. But I really got the impression that it's quite a mouthful of a game. Might even be a blessing in disguise as I really should be using my time on other things.

Still, annoying. Obviously.
