Well that's a brave postulate...
'On 13 May 2008, Grand Theft Auto IV broke the Guinness World Records for "Highest grossing video game in 24 hours" and "Highest Revenue Generated by an Entertainment Product in 24 Hours". It sold 3.6 million copies on day one, which equalled roughly $310 million in revenue. '
I remember my whole school was talking about vice city for like 2 months until the release and everyone had preordered it.
Per chance I was going round shops the next day, and every single one had "GTA Vice city - sold out" taking up half the game sections.
The Music sections were filled with GTA Vice City- soundtrack.
I picked up a copy, and looked at the pictures, on the back and read the description.
It was the moment I decided to buy a Playstation 2.

Meh the same can be said for any game. ERGO zelda has the big *** maps, with dungeons and castles and a princess to save everytime.
anyway you've convinced me im gonna ebay twiglight princess for the good ol gamecune (will need to find it.. have no idea where it is haha)
It is in the fine details, and environment where games differ (sadly I took 151 Game fundamentals as an elective in uni.. was easy as aka assignment 1 review a game of choice. assignment 2 = discussing controversial game elements i.e vioelnce and ass3 making a game.. i made a gameboard lol. easiest HD i ever got . But wowza there where some serious gamers in that unit). Setting and story has greater impact then one may think, importantly it is what gets you immersed in the game and hitch is 100% right when he suggest there are big differences between the different GTA games. Much like you would find big differences in the zelda games. Heck I got the new fifa, and despite it being soccer I swear the game is so much better and different compared to 11.
red dead was brilliant imo. hitch if you haven't i suggest trying this one. While LA noire was a little disappointing I thought.
The last game I bought was Fifa 10. I didnt even buy 11. Before that GTA IV so thats 2 games in 4 years.
So I dont buy games much. I know there are some great games out there I havent tried. Im not even going to buy the new fifa, since I dont think its worth £50 (games used to cost half that only 2 years ago).
But just like there are some great books out there I so want to read, books and games take a lot of commitment, take a lot of time, so getting into one isnt always that easy even if you know you would enjoy it.
I dont think any of them quite match GTA though. I played Saints Row 2 for a very long time and it had a lot of very fun modes, as fun as the ones in GTA, but the music, the setting, the refferences to culture, and the feeling of what it was like to live in 80's Florida, or early 90's California, is what really gets to me.
