Yes, it was hypocritical. He has admitted that much. But how was it the act of a bully? He didn't even say it to his face, and when confronted he backed down immediately. How is that bullying?
in the tyler interview it says jv "froze to the spot", whatever that means. says nothing about him backing down.
but fair enough, i'll drop the charges.

Jesus H. tap dancing Christ, sniper, you really do have an obsession with JV don't you? It's close to being an OCD. You latch on to every word he ever said and then dissect it if it was someone announcing the next coming of Christ. Give it a rest already.

well sure, i find him to be one of the more intriguing characters in the peloton. clever, intelligent, sharp, no doubt.
the way he positions himself. the way he tries to control the message,
the way he anticipates bad news. the way he plays both sides.
the multiple contradictions in his stories.
his backtracking. the whole package. fascinating.

Bear in mind that unlike you, I happen to think Garmin's ace is a doper, rather than the first clean GT winner in 20 years. That explains perhaps in part why I am more intrigued by JV's rethorics than you are.

_________________ the "intrenched in their illness" part certainly sings like a one note band. Oh well, it makes for interesting reading. I sometimes wonder what sort of subterfuge JV's up too with entertaining the clinic.

Reckless behaviour?

DB: You talked about a level playing field. But was there a level playing field with the UCI. In Hamilton’s book he says that you were in a position where you could have riders called in by the UCI. Was that a situation?

LA: I certainly didn’t have riders called in. I did know that when he got called in, but it was his own reckless behaviour that got him called in. But I wasn’t the only one, a lot of people knew he was called in and that the UCI told him to back off. There was a time when there was talk of guys using synthetic haemoglobin. That wasn’t out yet and I thought it was risky. So where there times when they asked what was going on in the peloton and they asked me I had heard of AICAR three or four years ago when McQuaid asked me. I said I didn’t know but that there’d been talk of AICAR. So to give them a heads up. I deny that I had Tyler Hamilton called into the UCI.

What does that have to do with Weltz?

the overt message is: "what vaughters says is one story, what his riders do is a completely different story."
the covert message seems: "can't you see through the BS?"

Tyler even managed to state Sky are clean somewhere, but in Garmin's case he's apparently more reserved.

Look, Vaughters is smart, charming, anti-doping, gets along with the media, Walsh likes him, etc. so it's not exactly en vogue to criticize Vaughters. that could be one reason why
Tyler's criticism of Garmin/JV seems mostly covert criticism, implicating Weltz, digging up the 2008 Vuelta story without explicitly naming JV (letting others join the dots).
On the other hand, of course he would probably have implicated Weltz regardless of his sentiments towards Vaughters. And I might be reading too much into it.
And I'm not saying Tyler has someinside intel on Garmin. But it's not farfetched to assume the two don't really like eachother. Tbh, Vaughters 2008 Vuelta action speaks volumes. The acts of a bully and of a hypocrit. If I were Tyler, i'd not be very forgiving either.
I dont believe in the team.

But I also dont think Weltz and Lim were playing the preparatore qua preparatore at Slipstream. Can you imagine if it came out they were? I dont think this is plausible.

Folks would come down harder on JV than Armstrong. We are talking cycling folks being betrayed harder and again by one of their own.

My criticism, and profuse that it is, is targeted to the rhetoric, and the spin, that I dont think can be reconciled with the actions and what i see on the hot pour.

I also dont think that Garmin's riders should have to ride with one hand behind their back, whilst 50% of the peloton are getting a 20% boost on their threshold wattage. For that, I give Ryder a pass. But i dont like the BS.

What JV did is like pulling somebody's pants down in front of an audience.
Typical bully stuff.

If I'm not mistaken, JV hadn't come clean himself yet at the time.
Oh, and half of Garmin consists of ex-dopers. Perhaps JV was just trying to be funny, but I can't blame Tyler for calling it hypocricy.
the other half consists of current dopers

I wonder if there are any people left who are buying Vaughters' "dedicated to a 100% clean sport".

Aside from Vaughters and I'm certain he's not believing 100%, I'd say no.

My guess is Weltz does for JV what he did for Riis.
safe guess.
i couldn't think of another plausible reason to hire a guy who's been working as drug mule for three different cycling teams.
