Sorry, I'm extremely weak at grasping irony and sarcasm. :) What does wordsmith have got to do with that?

1. Leave it alone.
2. Wordsmith: Look it up - you are quite capable of that - you demonstrate more than average proficiency with online skills every day.
3. You've already recognized that it might be irony and/or sarcasm. That alone tells me you are ahead of the game. I think your best strategy is to say "Thank you", then move on, and refer to #1. Because this could be dangerous ground, and I could see this thread devolving into a fight, very quickly. So, YOU tell ME - what is the best way to avoid a fight in this thread? I'm listening.

BTW - I'm STILL looking for you to add some more reasonable choices for answers to the poll.

Edit to add: (crossed paths in the ether)

I'm pretty sure you're being payed a compliment and not being ridiculed.:)

It might NOT be sarcasm or irony, also. Angliru has a good point.

Snip-Hell, they vote 4 'cos they hesitate to vote 5, because that option sounds childish and stupid. However, exactly 4 is a prime cause of 5 for many cases. :)-Snip

Admitting the above is the same as admitting that your intention is to bait those that you complain about. This is your poll. Why would you include an option that is, in your own words, "childish and stupid"? If you have such little respect for the ones that you complain about then why not simply put them on your ignore list?

That is obvious, then he couldn't bait them LOL

Carols you handle your emotions tremulously but vote for point 5 in cold blood. Imagine someone supports Froome. In his eyes' fans you are approximately like I'm in yours, however no one bashes you as you do it with me.

Seems to me, the forums are built on the idea of equity of the members. No one has preferences. Nonetheless, some AC fans start whining about trolling when some people criticize him. At the same time it's absolutely normal to vote for 'Froome is a shame of cycling'. I bet it even is not considered trolling... Not very logical, to put it mildly.

Why put a trolling option in the poll?

English please.

I'm having trouble understanding the last part of this option.

"...no matter he riders"

Is this english?

On a related note there are missing a few other options:

1- for someone who already idolized Froome.
2- for someone who stopped liking Froome.

The man won in the most spectacular fashion since 2004 I guess but people vote for 'shame of cycling'. Is it an opinion of a judicious person? Is it an opinion of an adequate cycling fan? Of course not. It is either spoilt kids or ****ed-off losers

2004 wasn't a spectacular Tour. It was boring. Lance killed everybody with such ease that all semblance of competition was killed off. Not very entertaining unless you're a Lance fan, a bit like watching F1 in the early 2000s or Brady throwing to Moss when the Patriots are 30 points up in the 4th every week.

Don't think I have ever seen a poll so designed for trolling in the history of the forum. Seen a few that were being ironic or funny but this one is just blatant trolling. Couldn't even vote for any of the options as it appears the case with a lot of people. Mods???

The last point special for native speakers who know English too well to understand... I'm decoding - 'Of course not. He is a shame of cycling. I'll forever dislike him no matter what God on the bike he is'. :)

My initial goal was to find out whether people want to see the light, face the reality and put up with previous opinions. So I appreciate say Angliru's and ILoveCycling's answers very very highly. Respect, mates. But... there are a few such patient and wise forum members like them. Many many guys still dwell in their dreams, build castles in the sky and accuse Froome of the fact that he dared to win the Tour and didn't let them get satisfaction from the race... :)

Airstream why are you so obsessed with other people s opinions on Froome and Contador? Why are they trolls when they don't like Froome or don't celebrate him? You keep harping on about people being mad he dared to win or dared to beat our favorites. Check option 4. Only in your dreams my friend.

That makes no sense, arrogant = humble?

You seem to have a fixed position of Froome and you wont let the facts get in the way:D

In another words: Froome has the nerve to say to the world with straight face Quintana was going to win Ventoux well knowing he had nothing left & decided to attack him twice & dispose him with a K to go.....

He's so arrogant acting like a cvnt on the road while speaking softly & smiling when the BS comes out of his mouth in front of the microphone.......

see? arrogant=humble;):D

moss was a shadow of his former self long before he went to new england and they won 3 out of 4 superbowls without him. the nfl part of this analogy makes no sense.

if they are up 30 points in the 4th a superstar receiver would be on the bench otherwise it would be like froome being up 30minutes on the final stage of the tour and he tries to solo breakaway from the start

The point was not about Moss breaking out to be amazing, his best years were at Minnesota. It was about how the games that season (the infamous 18-1 season) ceased to be interesting as athletic competitions because one team was so far above the other. And they DID keep Brady throwing to Moss long after games were over, at times when most teams (including the Pats most years) would have their top receivers and sometimes quarterbacks already resting up on the bench. It became totally pointless viewing because the match was already won, they were just sticking more and more exclamation points behind it.

Then, just for us stupid incredulous individuals, you had better start to explain (physiologically) how Froome managed to accelerate to over twice his high climbing power out put in a very short distance to blow away Contador on Vontoux without a bum leaving a seat, and to continue at a high power output there after? Please explain, using evidence and examples where necessary. No wishful arguments, facts please....thanks.

As expected many kids have no guts to admit how superior Froome was. :) And if previously they had the only wall to hide behind — to say how boring Froome is — now they have nothing but clinic hints. Surely to explain the things one dislikes by clinics is the easiest way.

I'd acknowledge any Tour winner, but seemingly for many people only Contador's or Valverde wins would be a showing of real justice... :)

Guys open your eyes, Froome's Mont Ventoux is self-valuable. It's something anyone of us will always remember: something with joy and delight and others - with tears & bottle of port. And I'm proud of being among the first category of people. Froome's win was absolutely predictable. To me, it was something most of people could bet on in july of 2012 yet.

This post is the reason you made this poll. Just to make it.

Im happy for you.

I'm a sofa cycling fan. I'm not a sport physiotherapist, coach or specialist. And I'm absolutely not different from 99% of the forum guys. However, one prefers to denigrate and despise while other evaluates its cycling knowledge quite modestly and reasons 'if this guy owns everyone on top, it's highly deserved'. You asked me a question you yourself are not able to reply to. Froome is a super climber and IMO such an annihilation was predicted by many people. Mate, I'm not a God, I can't explain it like absolutely anyone here. In order to explain that, it is necessary to have access for Team Sky inside situation, explore Froome's training info. For all top athletes there number are highly confidential. Why do you take Mont Ventoux stage like an example? To flip Contador like a stone is not normal by itself or what? I said many times it is a question of expectations. Perhaps Froome's attack shocked you. I for myself considered him the world best climber after the 2012 Tour, so it wasn't sensational whatsoever.

It wasn't sensational. In fact it was the very opposite of it - predictable. That's why I didn't enjoy it. There is no surprise anymore in Froome's abilities, but the fact that he turns up and wrecks the whole field at every race he turns up at, makes them boring to watch, so the best races are ones where they're not there or where they're somehow disadvantaged early on. Just like Michael Schumacher or Marit Bjørgen.
