Against Landa?
Valverde's biggest threat for 3rd is actually Contador. AC's getting better and feeling better, he just said so on TV.Pentacycle said:Mende is too steep for Valverde, he's never been good at dictating pace on this type of climbs. The Alpine climbs next week will decide on his podium, and he likes them a lot better than the Pyrenees. Tejay will have a hard time to keep up with him.DBotero said:Impressive today, but normally he should have dropped everybody on this type of climb. He will still crack in the 3rd week, but TVG might crack too.It will be interesting which of them, has the best bad day.

Why do you think he'll crack? He's riding into form now not losing it - ready to reach his second super-long peak of the season all the way from San Sebastian to Lombardia.
Alberto will need some better legs in the Alps. Also, this hot weather needs to move away.SergeDeM said:Valverde's biggest threat for 3rd is actually Contador. Even with current weather and current legs 3rd place is only between those two, barring crazy events.Pentacycle said:Alberto will need some better legs in the Alps. Against Landa?
And why not? Is maybe Landa some kind of GT great? 2 GT's in a year is pretty demanding task, I don't expect Landa anywhere near the podium

Landa is not a regular rider. He's got enough rest-period to shine again in the Vuelta. The only concern for him is that flat TT in Burgos.
If Nibali is in great shape, he's perhaps the biggest favorite to win.

Landa said the other day in Spanish TV that Astana will repeat at the Vuelta the silly tactics of the Giro: ride for Aru no matter what. They may only change that if Vino insists in having a tired Nibali as well.Arredondo said:SeriousSam said:Exactly. 3rd at the Tour, winning the Vuelta and winning Lombardia would cap off a great year.

And why would astana do it any other way? Aru is staying, Landa is not.ice&fire said:Landa said the other day in Spanish TV that Astana will repeat at the Vuelta the silly tactics of the Giro: ride for Aru no matter what.
