Someone had posted this old newspaper article that I thought many of you would also find interesting. Yes it's in Spanish, but one thing is shows is that he's always loved his home race more than other bigger races on the calendar.

I didn't want to reach for glasses and help my aging eyes...but I don't worry about Valverde. Maybe next year. :D

It's ok. That newspaper article is from 2003. Just an fun look back and to see that he's always highly valued his home race and seems to have never been a big a fan of MSR.

It's 16 years ago... I think people can change their minds a bit in such a timeframe.

That's just it, he still values his home race over almost every other race on the calendar.

He will have pretty incredible support like last year for Catalunya: Quintana, Carapaz, Soler, Amador, Erviti and Verona. Thats about as good as it gets for one week stage races. However, this year Quintana and Valverde might be in more of a co-captain situation after Quintanas Paris-Nice.

Although the team did say that Quintana was a late addition to Catalunya and wasn't not originally going to it.

This picture is from today. Alejandro now has a black rainbow jersey to go with the white one. I do like this one. The colors of the stripes I think stand out better. Of course he found an ice cream cone sign to pose next to.

Which doesn't mean he can't be better of the two. I think that Valter will sort things out...

Any chance he'll try something tomorrow?

As it's a WT race it's more likely he'll race more conservatively. Plus a race he doesn't really care for. We'll see.
Roelandts should be the leader anyway.
Of course he shouldn't, we are talking about Valverde. Roelandts should be lifted of any domestique work and try to get into the top-10, but Valverde obviously has greater chances of winning.

Maybe co-leaders at best, with Valverde offensive on the Poggio and Roelandts following the escape group if possible. I wonder though, who would work for who if we have, let's say 8-10 men group with Both Bala and Roelandts on Via Roma?
