well CN has no credibility as a news source so i don't even bother with what they say anymore

All they do is reveal their hatred for Valverde, which the way i see it is picking the losing side.

It intensifies the pleasure we feel every time he wins, knowing they hate it.

And the best bit is theres no way back . Theyve already revealed their cards.

Yeah but at Mende we no no one out of the GC contenders can sprint against him ( even if they all follow him on the slopes ). Gerrans also dialled back a bit his form- as he believes it would suit him better for the Ardennes.

The top competition in my view includes Anton, Samu, Andy/ Frank ( not trying ) Vino, Gilbert and Evans- no one really else ( for the Ardennes though i hope others can come through ) and none of those were present here

Other than Gilbert, none of those could outsprint him anyway, so I don't understand what your point is.

I dare say that Samu, Vino and Evans would give him a run for his money. If Gerrans can push Valverde then I'm sure they can.

I don't know why I even bother and read CN stage reports. That was from stage 4 of PN :

The expected showdown between Wiggins and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) failed to materialise on the final climb into Rodez. But this was no anti-climax, the stage providing further evidence of Wiggins's current form and class, while Valverde, returning from a doping suspension, struggles to match his form of old.

I really doubt that Daniel Benson actually watched the stage or any other stage to come up with this conclusion. Yesterday, the finish wasn't tough enough and to win the stage, it was all about positionning at the end.

And as a title :
Wiggins comfortable in matching Valverde

It's not like wiggins matched valverde. Valverde started to sprint, then he realised he was a bit far and cut his efforts.

I really don't know why I read their race reports while I actually watched the stage.

This should go in the website errors section.

Sry for being a bit late but Cadel, Anton and the Shlecks would have tried to drop him, which is what they usually try do in the Ardennes.

Interview with Valverde talking about 2012 Tour (Spanish)
http://www.biciciclismo.com/cas/site/noticias-ficha.asp?id=52672

Q: There are 100 km time trial, have you worked specifically with this discipline?
A: Yes, something we have worked on, we know that there are better riders than me in the time trial as Wiggins and Evans, but the Tour is 21 days.
There was talk of him having improved his TT during his suspension, but if anything, it's gotten worse.

I believe that had he not crashed out of the 2006 Tour that he could have at minimum made the podium and at best won the overall. He was nearing his peak at that point but unfortunately had to pull out of both the 2005 (knee injury) and 2006 Tours.
