Porte will probably stick to the schedule that worked well for him last year. The only difference is that he also wants to ride the Vuelta which is a bit odd. Maybe he thinks that is his best prep for the Worlds Road Race. But you would think with the later finish to the season he would forego the nationals and the TDU but I guess that he and BMC won't knock some points early in the season and he gets to avoid the European winter for a bit longer.

The Victorian Government has committed to a new three-year deal with the race, while recreation vehicle giant Jayco have signed on for another three years as naming rights partner.

Given that it has been an existing WT race for some years, rather than a new addition; it would remain as such (as was the case for 2017 - the first year with the "mass influx" of new races) unless there has been a very recent rules change by UCI with regards to minimum number of WT teams.
While I agree with most people saying it's mainly Australians targeting the race no one can deny the last few stage winners and overallyaco said:The main thing this year is for a Non-Australian to win a stage - It's been 2015 since this happened.
Big fields for the Nationals - Women's RR for elite and under 23's has 63, men's elite 104, men's under 23 has 174, under 19's women's has 15 under 19's women has 19, men's under 19 ITT has 44, men's under 23 ITT has 42, elite and women's under 23 ITT has 18, mens elite ITT has 22

Nobody is able to stay within 10 secs of him on Willunga Hill.
I really think that Sagan will not target the overall. he will probably aproach TDU as a training opppurtunity just like he did it last year working for Bennet in the sprintsVelolover2 said:I think Sagan and Matthews have a better chance of challenging for the overall than the climbers.
