No kidding, the flip over the handlebars when he rode off the road?

You are correct, they should have to keep replaying that until the last Km because watching the race was like watching paint dry.

BTW I don't blame the riders for doing nothing while riding in 45C heat and I bet a big chunk of them would prefer not to even be there.

I feel sorry for them, it's like an unfair punishment for being a pro cyclist.

Yeah, I bet they loathe being able to stay in the same hotel throughout the race and get to be in such a horrible place as Australia instead of the nice, snowy Europe.

That said, this was one of the dullest stages I have seen of a bike race.

I was wondering what happened there, sometimes I doubt Morton even wants to be a Pro rider. A lion in the USA, a lamb in Europe...

The whole same hotel thing I am sure they enjoy. I remember last year one of Movistar's riders was asked about the heat. He said, well we volunteered to come so we basically asked for this. Then said something about it being better than the cold back in Europe. I'd say it depends on the rider. Some don't mind.

It is quite hot in Australia right now. 45C/113F is well more than hot enough, but add in the UV factor, its insane.

I'm Australian with Italian heritage, so my skin isn't exactly one that burns easily, but I've really noticed in the last 15 years or so the UV factor becoming more and more intense. I used to get away with being outside on summer days with a 15+ sunscreen for some of the time. These days, its 30+ all of the time. Anything more that 45mins or so will get me burned without sunscreen.

Compare that to when i'm in an Italian summer, for one or two days I'll use a 15+, and then nothing for the rest of the time.

Its also generally a pretty dry heat in Adelaide.

Having said this, I love the Australian summer.

That was a very good sprint by Bevin, if the group comes back together after Corkscrew and he picks up time bonuses tomorrow he has a very good chance for the GC.

Big miss by Ewan, outsprinted by a non sprinter. Bevin went long and the drag before that softened up the legs I suppose. Smart win. Astana rider landed on his feet.

Sure the racing is mostly dull but riders who are able to mostly choose their own schedules keep coming back again and again (such as LL Sanchez, De Ghendt, Gesink, Pozzovivo, Sagan, Greipel - until this year) so the organisers must be doing something right *shrugs*

Mitchelton Scott had Bevin signed,sealed and nearly delivered before a late change of mind by Bevan. He has improved year after year.
