The Aussie Nationals happen next Sunday with probably the strongest field in the last 5 or 6 years - It will be a quality field and should arrive at a worthy winner.

Anyone who has won the nationals is a worthy winner but yes this years race should be a good one, the weather looks great as well with a predicted top of 33c.

What's up with Sarah Gigante? Hasn't raced since August, not on the start list for either the RR or TT at the RoadNats,

Movistar is not riding the TDU and Gigante is not riding for the National Team - Last seen at a cycling event in Melbourne, Australia in Mid November - She has to have a full season in 2023 or she will never reach her potential.

She’s also been studying at Uni.

I am fully aware that she has been studying BUt Gigante has a total of 41 race days in the last three years - Take off the Aussie races and its closer to 30 days - She needs to get more race days and more importantly she needs to improve her bike handling which is below par.

How is the route?

Its 185kms with a 3km 5% climb on each lap and an expected top of 32C - All the leading Aussies are there except for Jack Haig - Expect Ewan to try the climbers in the last circuit or two or three.

The TDU has an excellent start list with no clear favourite - It features 39 Aussie/NZer's which shows their depth in the WT peleton - The only Aussie missing is Haig who has never returned to Australia after turning pro in 2016. The race also has changed complexion with the opening prologue of 5.5kms which will create small gaps in GC - Mt Lofty stage is harder than it looks on paper - Names to throw up for GC are Yates,O'Connor, Bilbao, Cattaneo, Hayter, Dennis, Schmid, Storer, Plapp, Hindley, Bettiol and Covi.

Reckon Hayter will take the prologue.

Vine as well!
UAE comes with very strong team.
Vine, Covi and Hirschi could all be options for GC.
With strong help from Bennett, Bax, Fisher-Black and Vink

Got the Crit. nationals coming up tomorrow. Ewan is borderline unbeatable in those type of races, but here's hoping someone like Blake Quick can make life difficult. Somewhat disappointing to see Graeme Frislie go for another turn with the U23's. He looked strong in the Bay Crits.

Going by reputation alone, Oscar Chamberlain should be the overwhelming favorite amongst the juniors, but am expecting Wil Holmes to turn up this year, should be Australia's best first year junior this upcoming season.

I look forward to waking up at around 4 AM six days in a row. At least there is the Australian Open going on at the same time.

Edit: I see the prologue will be an evening thing, so Europeans can watch it in the morning without having to get up early (first rider starts at 8:30 AM CET). A good thing Tuesdays are my day off
