What's up with antipodeans and descriptive names? We already have Corbin Strong the powerful rouleur/puncheur, Blake Quick the sprinter, and now, judging by the NZ Cycle Classic stage 2, we also have Kiaan Watts the sprinter. The young Christian Rush, who finished 9th in the same stage, will probably evolve into the second coming of Johnny Hoogerland.
Don't forget about Robert Power. Sadly retired already.

It's not?
From the top of my head, there was an edition with Valverde, Luis Leon (when he was still good), Sagan, Greipel... now the highest ranked foreign rider is probably Pello Bilbao.

I think Ineos and of course Jayco take this race very seriously, but then you also have teams like Quickstep and Jumbo who've brought the weakest team they're likely to field for any WT race this year.

You have Thomas, Hayter, Bettiol, Honoré, Bilbao, Simon Yates, Sheffield, Hirschi, Covi, Schachmann, (Froome) plus the whole Australian delegation. If that's not a strong field for this race, I don't know what is.

Plus, nobody had heard of Sagan before the edition you're referring to.

The latter is true. He was already very good of course. I'm not saying the field isn't strong, although there's quite a big gap between the teams in startlist quality. It was about whether it's the strongest ever.

Unsurprisingly, Ewan wins the criterium and he'll win a stage - I doubt the Europeans realise how big this race is in Adelaide - It has all the paraphernalia of a GT with villages, breakaway zones, Gran Fondo's, new tech on display, strong crowds extensive TV coverage and wall to wall media cooverage in Adeliade - Reckon the overall package make it about the biggest one week stage race on the calendar.

Now for the important question(s)!

Who is this year's "Obscure Pro"?
Has one been selected at all?
Is there one for the women's race?

According to Wikipedia there hasn't been one named since 2016, but don't let that stop you from giving out prizes of your own.

Some win by Daria Pikulik!

It looked like FDJ and Copponi would pip Jayco with Baker, but the Pole easily came passed at the end.

Manly wins stage two of the Wonen's TDU from a reduced sprint - Important win for team Jayco Alula and it is on her home roads. Reckon, Spratt can win GC on stage three.
