Aaron Gate already in great shape, wins stage 1 of NZ Cycle Classic, 2.2…

Good signing for Burgos, this man…
Nice start to my CQ ranking 2024 team. He should be one of the faster guys in the lower level Spanish races as well so good chance of a favourable calendar with Burgos.

The web page for the men's race has corrected the nationalities of Narvaez and Mullen. It has also cancelled Lennard Hofstede's retirement.

  • 131. KOEN BOUWMAN
  • 132. ROBERT GESINK
  • 133. LENNARD HOFSTEDE
  • 134. JOHANNES STAUNE-MITTET
  • 135. MILAN VADER
  • 136. LOE VAN BELLE
  • 137. MICK VAN DIJKE

Most importantly, they also corrected the nationality of Price-Pejtersen!
They also re-named Madis Mikhels to "Mads"...

And I guess Bart Lemmen will just have to disguise himself as Hofstede.
Cycling Dane made some predictions.. Some surprises to me.. Especially UAE riders and saying that allowing Del Toro to take on leadership, his first race w the squad and first time seeing this quality of racer..I hope TDU has a wider gap between top 5 and with no time trial, hope it helps

The women's TDU is starting later tonight. Jayco may or may not have lost out on the win last year by not fully supporting Roseman-Gannon, so it'll be interesting to see how they play it this year. They also have Ellie Wyllie now in case Willunga gets too hard for RRG and/or Manly.

Sarah Gigante is back to form, and if she can replicat her Willunga time of 8:13 from the 2021 pandemic version of the TDU, then she could be hard to beat.

Brown and Uttrup-Ludwig could prove to be a dangerous duo, although they haven't made the most of it for the past two seasons. I'm excited to see how 2020 winner Ruth Edwards gets on in her comeback, but Doebel-Hickok might be the strongest HPH rider, although she hasn't had the smoothest of rides since finishing 5th in last year's race. Trek with Spratt and Chapman should also be up there.

Yeah that was a nice win for Wollaston, who hasn't had the best of luck in WWT races.
Jayco got it nearly right, but with such a heavy sprint train, they can't be too pleased with nearly finishing 3rd, though they might get it exactly right tomorrow.

Interesting that Bertizzolo was up there, cause she can climb fairly well on her best days. Also a great sprint by Kristyna Burlova to finish 4th.

Tomorrow is a tougher stage and will see a reduced peloton - Jayco will go for Manly or Roseman Gannon. However, if Woolaston makes the final and is in position, she will win. As a point of comparison - Dygert was a last-minute withdrawal from the race, yet if she races think Woolaston would beat her in today's stage.
