Good win for Onley & DSM - the fast and furious start to 2024 is on! Lemmen hanging on until the finish was good news for Visma, but at 28 years old he must feel ancient.

I found it in this other Velo article (they call me the Velo Man, btw), so I'm right!
But Simon must really feel like an old dinosaur, if he's indeed 5 minutes older than Adam.

The photo finish equipment must have been placed un a wrong position then. Unfortunately, I cannot find the Twitter pic I saw a couple of days ago but it showed something else than this.
And yes, I know that officially, it's the photo finish shot that decides but that just doesn't feel right when the riders have no chance of knowing where that is if it isn't positioned correctly.

Yes.
This isn't "set up". Here you can see the line and see that Williams is in front of Strong.
If you're not convinced from looking at the wheels, check the shadows of the wheels. Williams was first across the line.

In almost every race, the finish line we see is not *actually* the finish line, it's usually shortly thereafter. Which is why photos like the one above can be deceiving.

If this race is in October we would all hate it. A WT race with 120km stages and decided on time bonuses .. However because is first race of the season we are all excited for racing. Riders get to do a winter training block on Australia and Australia gets a WT event. That's nice . But really without Ritchie porte lighting up willunga it's clear that this is no really a WT race.
Anyway nice warm up for the season, happy for welsford, Loulou and Steven William. Tomorrow hope to see Simon Yates attacking in the drops like it's a Spanish 1.1 race
