Speed skating is, for reasons I can't understand, very popular in the Netherlands. Maybe too popular for doping stories.

some damn nice massage oils til DZ Nuts started to encroach on his territory

dunno bout u, but I prefer the Freddy's Choice to Lim's thermal regulation bidons from heaven theory, and DZ nuts chamois creams.

I dunno. If I were on the juice, I sure wouldn't pull off stunts like Gilbert did in '11, and then fail completely until the World's in '12. That's the best way to raise more than a few eyebrows.
not if everyone has metaphorical alopecia

Gilbert in 2011 was riding for Lotto who had Ibarguren as the Doc.

In 2012 Gilbert was ridng for BMC while Ibarguren went to work for OPQS, and Boonen had a great spring classics.

Just saying. ;)

Slightly off-topic, but wow, what is up with the top tier at BMC? Gilbert and Hushvod barely visible at Harelbeke, Evans something like 75th at Criterium International TT.

Hmmm

Either a clean peloton.

Or, extraction time.

I would love it were it the former. My money is on the latter.

Dave.

BMC seem to have an addition to their medical staff:

Wouldnt that be same?

That's right. Roger Palfreeman. The British Cycling team doctor who was supposed to be in charge of internal testing at Team Sky but left abruptly in March 2010 with no explanation given for his departure. Geert Leinders replaced him.

Maybe BMC/Phonak really are trying to clean up their act?

The real question is why do they need to add a doctor in this so sensitive of times? Are Evans, Thor, Ballan and Gilbert's illnesses of lack of wins so bad they need to quarantine them and sequester a doctor just for them ;)

I made some research after Lefevere strange quote about Gilbert in this ITW.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/lefevere-there-has-never-been-organised-doping-on-my-team

According to one of the comments in the original article in Het laastste neuws, cortisone doping was raging within the flemmish team abx-go pass team ( gilbert first team). Apparently, Gilbert did test positive for cortisone at the picardie tour but delivered an outdated certificate. Funny thing is I cant find the article anymore...

I also read somewhere else that heavy cortisone in 2011 use could explain Gilbert lack of form in 2012.

Wait and see..

I was wondering when we were going to fire up the PhilGil threads in the clinic... :D
Considering it should be in any cycling fan's interest that Gilbert is back on the right programme, I can really only applaud it. Amazing rider. So should others. :p

Though I've got to admit, this performance of FW got me doubted as well. But his team mates had to give Gilbert their encouragement a few times because he was sitting in the back. Gilbert wasn't really motivated because he thought he couldn't win this. But after the second ascend of the Mur he said he felt great, so he told his team to work for him. Why would he dope, for FW, if he thought he couldn't win here?

He's back in a team with Ibarguren as doctor and predictably he's flying again
Thank god for that, painfull to see how bad he was at BMC

Haha! Totally agree, as much as I'm against doping watching Gilbo reunite with the good Doc Ibarguren has added another dimension to the cobbled classics this season :D

Lemme get this straight.... You guys believe Gilbert is doping again because he's winning (and reunited with his old team doctor), and that's okay because he does it with panache?

It's no wonder cycling is hopelessly broken.

The worst part is that I'm just as excited (and guilty) as everyone else that PhilGil is destroying the peloton again, and doing it with the kind of flair that only Alberto Contador and Peter Sagan can match.

Chapeau Phillipe!

In all honesty I don't take any pleasure in seeing Gilbert winning, I also don't believe he ever stopped doping but something went wrong with his program or whatever at BMC. I do struggle to get annoyed with him looking turbo charged again seeing as the peloton as a whole looks to be heading in the same direction putting in crazier and crazier performances, we aren't yet at the level of the late 90's/2000's but we are well on our way.
