Is Walsh on the Sky bandwagon?

Page 235 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Just looking at his old tweets and I just find his sudden change of mind nauseating and dare I say, calculating. IMHO, there's nothing genuine about his change of opinion on Sky. He was there protecting them from anyone that spoke out. Perhaps he wasn't threatening anyone for slander, but he never took in serious consideration of how suspicious Sky's performances were, certainly in GT events, if not all the events where they dominated. Of course, one isn't automatically clean if he/she has poor result.

To take it one step further, he has no problems defending GB's spike in Olympic and World Championships medals won in recent Olympics, but when Russia, Kenya, Jamaica have theirs, it's deplorable. Don't believe me? Check out his tweets from the Rio Olympics two months ago.

His stance is what I've been talking about in the Clinic. If you want to be critical of suspicious performances and doping, you better fight it on all fronts.

""Wiggins now has an asterix for TdF win"

" Sky has been anything but transparent"

"ethics still matter in sport"

"believes Froome is clean"

Walsh really is a joke

He might need to get checked for Dementia.
He still needs to cling to Froome as the last lifeline to his own credibility. Which really left town long ago.

He now has to figure out how he can extract himself from Froome once the general cycling media turn on Froome.

Maybe Walsh thinks Froome wont be busted. But then he probably thought Sky were not going to get caught.

Maybe he'll do to Froome what he is now doing to Wiggins. He'll probably hoping there is another book out of Froome before that happens

If he thinks Froome is going to get busted he will turn on him.

It's the old 'one bad apple' play - throughout cycling history there's always been one, maybe two, stars of the era who take the fall for the rest - although the rest are just as doped. Just Wiggins' bad luck to be his era's Armstrong/Pantani

The saddest part of all of this that there might not be anymore Sky books from Walsh. Fingers crossed we get at least one more Froome book out of him, maybe another Hollywood blockbuster?

Armstrong wasn't the "one bad apple" of his era, he was one of the absolutely last to fall. Pantani, Basso, Ullrich, Beloki, Vino, Botero - basically all his rivals had fallen eons before.

I hear you, but my point is every doper is painted as being a 'lone wolf', a 'bad apple' whilst the rest of the barrel remains miraculously unrotted. These riders are scapegoated for the sins of all - yes, even Armstrong though he's a special case - and now it's Wiggins' turn to totter off into the wilderness with the sins of the sport on his back so the rest can return to business as usual.

But the attempt by Walsh to position Froome in the 'clean camp' and to force a dichotomy within Sky between the 'dirty' and 'clean' riders leads me to question exactly why Froome would remain in such an unsavoury set up where he's bound to be tainted? I imagine to that question is entirely self explanatory but, who knows, perhaps he'll up and leave for Dimension Data or somesuch

Walsh calling for Brailsford to resign in the ST tomorrow.

I'll resign from this forum if Walsh quits? He is weaksauce, what a stupid statement to make, he knows Brailsford is going nowhere, there has been nothing in his recent articles that is new. He rehashes stories from the Daily Mail then adds some Walsh stupidity and is done. Walsh is 2005, time to send back to the cruise ship

The likely fact that he's not going anywhere, doesn't mean he can't express that opinion.

I agree though that he hasn't come up with anything new. Then who has in relation to this outside of the Daily Mail, yet I see a lot of the regular media critics of Sky still express their opinion. That's not a criticism of them by me, btw.

Froome may be clean, with a few added horsepower hidden within his bike ;-)

Check the pictures of how thin Froome gets for TdF win veins popping and you'll see he aint clean!
