they should have sent him to the tour again, he could have repeated his 9th place from last year.told you, they should have gifted than Canadian championship to Houle
Not sure if it’s a deliberate policy or not but I have noticed the team always being referred to as IPT on the TNT coverage of the Vuelta when previously I am fairly sure they were usually referred to by their full team name.
I should hope not!The official RTVE broadcaster is calling them Premier Trek and dropping the Israel off i noticed. Seemed pretty deliberate.
Will there be more protests at the Vuelta in the next 2 weeks?
Are IPT's days numbered?
With all the bad press, might they fold this winter? Contractually, could they do that?
Must be a bad vibe in the team at present......
It looks as though the Palestinian flags today were in one group, whether by their own preference or at police insistence I wouldn't know, which meant it was relatively easily controlled, and negligible impact on any rider.in the Basque country tomorrow they'll find Palestine flags everywhere

I think that was generally known. Maybe not by protestors.According to Fuglsang, it's not actually the Israeli state who pays the team, but Sylvan Adams*, and he just - as Fuglsang so nicely put it - "Put 'Israel' on the jerseys... for some reason."
Thanks to @aruipksni for name-dropping him in another thread.
it's also the same for Bahrain and UAE (they do have co-sponsor). it's basically crazy rich patriotic business people who are crazy about cycling. the teams are not held by the governments. even Astana wasn't held by Kazazian, but it was financed by different offices in the government, until they stop the finance.I think that was generally known. Dual citizen, lives in Israel. Also Masters 65-69 past world champion, which is hilarious. But the funny bit is that in this particular case, the crazy rich person is.. Canadian...

in IPT case they inherit the name from the previous continental team ICA (later ISN) , founded by private Israelis in order to promote Israeli riders, the current name was given after Sylvan Adams bought the Katyusha team.

A tightly grouped, fast peloton is probably to the benefit of those that would be a target.
The fiery, but mostly peaceful protest today did apparently cause one rider to crash in the peloton.Apart from the time they almost crashed a few riders of course...
Also these kind of things are orchestrated by groups (not by the police). 90% of the guys standing there with flags don't even know what cycling is.
They can wave "their" flag as much as they want, but it's going to go wrong at some point, like it almost did today. And it won't even be Israel riders they are taking out.
"almost crashing" is pretty much the definition of "negligible impact", not an exception to it.Apart from the time they almost crashed a few riders of course...

Wasn't aware of that: that limits my "negligible impact" comment. Do you know who and whether he was hurt in the fall? The fiery, but mostly peaceful protest today did apparently cause one rider to crash in the peloton.
