he doesn't have a contract for next year for now, and he hasn't contributed much for the team this year. since the future of the team right now is very promising, i guess that they can extend him for another year, unless they will do more signing then their max allowed riders (like they did last year).
idk, he looked like he did a lot of work in their battle for positions, he went in the late break on the gravel stage, which helped his TM in the original break. So he has definitely contributed, even if less flashy than in 2014. But yeah his only top 10 this year was in the KoM of the 56th Tour des Alpes-Maritimes(2.1), so they wouldn't loose many points directly by letting him go.

His age is starting to show. He didn't think he'd done Plateau de Beille before...

And he rode it in 2011 as well.

If you know, you know

he is currently 38 on gc, so if he will hold on to this place , his UCI points will even count for the team ranking...

A 6th place for the 40-year-old in the Tour of the Alps. That's nice. Not enough to score a single UCI point though. He got a couple via the GC.

It would be amazing if he could get a top result this year, maybe just in a small race. But I'm afraid even Tour of Denmark is ridden too aggressively to leave him with a good chance.

From Danish TV2 this evening:

"One of Fuglsang's best periods in his career came in 2019, when he finished third in Amstel Gold Race, second in Flèche Wallone and then won Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

He has repeatedly expressed a desire to have those legs again, but that's no longer the case.

‘I think that dream is long gone. It's not even certain that those legs from back then could do much against Pogacar and Evenepoel,’ he says with a laugh."

I enjoyed listening to him today as a guest commentator for TV2. I think he has a great future as a commentator if that is a road he wants to follow...

I very much enjoyed Jakob's commentary as well, even if he is not exactly the most talkative person compared to Bak and co. I also appreciated his inside stories about fellow riders, his actual knowledge about top cyling in its current state and his analysis pre- and post-stage, which I thought was on point. It was also very interesting to get some insigt into his training in Monaco and what he expects with regards to the impending life after retirement.

A good move from TV2 overall. Will be looking forward to watching him finish off his career in Danmark Rundt.

Commentators should comment on the race, and I think they failed to do that a bunch today, so I went on Max instead. Lots of unnessary stories instead of commenting on the bike race IMO.
I agree principally, but in my opinion it is not Jakob's responsibility as a guest commentator/expert to structure the commentating. Ritter has that job, and I agree, he was not at his best today.

FWIW, I don't think MAX is always better in this regard. Having Bay/Holm venture into random escapades and not commentating the race has been a major annoyance for me the last couple of years (it seems Holm is going off the rails too often these days).

I think Jakob did his part today, but I am not sure commentating on a regular basis is really his thing considering his reserved nature. His post retirement plans with clothing brand Mad.One and acting as rider agent is a better fit.

I quite liked the bit about G maybe being a little bit jealous about his 7-month-contract.

(Also I fun little detail about their kids going to school together, there's probably a school in Monaco with a lot of cyclist-kids attending.)
Indeed. I was actually a little bit disappointed that Geraint didn't have something more personal to say when asked to give a few words/advice to Jakob the other day, as they are in a very similar situation. I guess Geraint is probably just trying to survive the Tour at this point, judging from how tired he sounds on Watts Occuring :D

I agree, Holm is terrible at this and Bay for a lack of better word is too afraid of Holm, but Bay with Bastian + an expert like Worre is really good usually.
