...L'Equipe claims that the director of the french cross-country ski team Michel Lucatelli, best friend of Ciprelli, could be in serious trouble for picking up a dubious package several months ago. ...

Michel Lucatelli is the director of the French skicross team, not X-country.

According to l'Equipe, Longo visited the ALFD last week to complain about being put back on the list of athletes on the localisation/testing program. Takes a lot of nerve.

Random thought - does she get seniors rates on her drug purchases?

In the main article on the arrest of Ciprelli, there is a mention that Bruno Genevois and Robert Bertrand, respectively president and general secretary of the AFLD, were questioned as well and also the fact that the Joe Papp e-mails were already in their possession when l'Equipe revealed their existance a few months ago. There is a strong suggestion that the French Federation of Cycling and possibly ALFD were covering up what they knew.

Good work Damien Ressiot. Also once again proof that police actions are more effective than federations at going after doping.

Firstly, I agree re. Damien Ressiot...and my personal experience w/ him has been very positive (no pun intended). Secondly, IIRC, the Ciprelli-related evidence from my case had been provided to some French authorities as early as summer-2010.

If the AFLD tried to bury this along with the French Fed it does not bode well for their testing at events nor for the testing of French riders.

It brings to mind a French rider's performance at last years TdF

Jeannie Longo = Lance Armstrong

“They should stop picking on him. These are decisions by judges which have perhaps been influenced by subjective dossiers,” Longo said. “The federation did everything to make sure that he wasn’t at my side to make me fail at the French championships and not get to the Olympics. They knew very well that I would be put out by his absence. They sent a lawyer twice to the French championships in Grenoble to make sure that he wasn’t with me at races.”

Wow she must really be stupid to point that fact out. So she fails miserably and says its becasue her Epo buying husband wasnt with her.

How are the French letting Longo get away with all the years she dominated and doped ?? She's the female Lance Armstrong and got away with it for decades.

Any frenchies got any more up to date info ?

+1

more bad weeds growing on UCI's front porch.
how did Longo not get caught in 30 epic years of cheating?
don't the UCI have some Longo-samples stored which they could test retrospectively?

It is a shame that while a wave of guilty influence washes over pro cycling, of both sexes, Longo is not considered innocent until proven guilty.
Many comments may lead readers to believe that you hold other positions of authority in the judge, jury and execution phases of law, both in the US and France.

The names you turned over to cycling feds and prosecutors have been pursued inconsistently at the very least. It would appear that if Armstrong was right about only one thing,it's that it was always all about him. The punishments or lack of them for all the others involved illustrate a clear case of this.

Why are the other riders you named, no matter how low level not been publicly shamed or convicted? Why if dozens of names of PED purchasers are in the hands of sport and non sports police has nobody else gone down?

If putting a 55 year old woman bike racer on watch list is going to send a chilling message to other dopers, maybe there is the problem with the entire process.
We need to start asking why the Barrys,Crawfords,Julich and Whites are allowed to self prosecute rather than be crushed by the process. Why is Levi not serving a lifetime ban for his repeat offense?

Cycling better get to ground Ωero and set up a commission before this trickle of toxins kills the sport slowly as it's doing now.

Bravo, this post is really a trolling masterpiece!

I'm going to do this one last time. There are a number of reasons nobody else has been processed or even arrested.
1. Sports federations don't want to process anyone. Remember, the sports federations have complete authority to open cases unless the athletes goes straight to the National doping authority.
2. Doping is not a crime in most countries. France has strongER laws, but according to critics, not by much.

!!!!!!!<Insert Shocking Music Here>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's called the sports federation and it seems like it's news to you, but they've been enabling the doping.

Oh yeah... The UCI will be getting around to that real soon. They've got to finish up the Landis investigation first. Why don't you understand that Pat and Hein are p!ss!ng on your leg and telling you it's raining?

Depressing really. How much of the French Cycling federation budget will be wasted while younger talent is ignored?

According tho the CN story, the old bag is indeed planning to continue to compete. She is pushing ridiculous to a new level, I see her as one sad individual especially as up to now she has been doping her way to any results. Sometimes sport brings out the worst in people.

How revolting to have a case thrown out due to no physical notification of whereabouts inclusion only to then say you've retired (?) and then to come back.

I wonder if this means she has the new gear? Is she paid that much she can afford it?

It will be interesting to see how long Longo lives.

"The request for waiver of judicial review of Patrice Ciprelli was rejected by the Court of Appeal of Grenoble. His wife Jeannie Longo therefore remains private coach, who remains suspended from duty The announcement was made by the French Federation, which denies an attempt to harm the career Longo: "There is not any intention achieve Jeannie Longo in turn, "has said the lawyer of the Federation, civil party, Mr. Paul Mauriac.

"There is no bias or conspiracy on our part," said the lawyer told AFP, which also stated that the federation would follow "the procedure carefully to the end." Ciprelli had recently obtained the return of his passport and permission to travel outside France, as part of a relaxation of its judicial review. He admitted that he bought the EPO for personal use and had been indicted on 10 February 2012, left free under judicial supervision."

So do any of our French commentators know? Ciprelli has his passport back and can leave the country but if I read it right he is still going to receive an official judicial review on purchasing EPO "for his own use" having had Joe send it to his mother ? Or is getting the passport back the early sign that this thing is going to be shelved ?

- contrôle judiciare = movements controlled and restricted by courts (not judicial review)
- privée (verb "priver") d'entraîneur = deprived of coach (not private coach)

A request had been made to release Ciprelli from having his movements controlled by the courts, following a previous removal of some restrictions resulting in the return of his passport and the right to travel outside of France.

The FFC states that there is no attempt to punish Longo by ricochet (indirectly) by their actions.

In this report there is no mention of the advancement of the legal procedure against Ciprelli for the purchase of EPO for "his own personal use" (personal use - make me laugh).

For some strange reason doper Longo is so pathetic that she is still trying to race and still trying to have her doping purchaser and facilitator husband reinstated as her coach. Sad, sad lady.

For anyone saying she is "innocent until proven guilty", I suggest that you open your eyes. Also innocent until guilty only applies to the courts and not to anonomous internet posters like me.
