And no Ciprelli is threatening legal action. Where have we heard that before.

This is all straight out of the Armstrong book. Most tested, threaten legal action, except rather than fighting cancer, she wants to have a baby.

Expect a whole range of yellow Longstrong teething rings very soon.

Targeted by AARP.

This is another high profile witch hunt.
Very sad and very stupid.

Jeannie4ever.

On a German forum, i stated that this issue looks like a well-kept and beloved Volkswagen Golf 1 beeing involved in a car-accident at 999.999km mileage. ;)

the velonationj article also says that Joe may be called to testify. Im sure you can work out that therefore prevents him from saying anything now.

Prevents him from saying anything?

Like "Longo is phenomenally fckd"

And then the inevitable "I told you so" rejoinder.
Way to stay classy Joe.

I think your 15 minutes of fame were up years ago.
Just go away.

Le Monde reports that in an interview with l'Equipe Joe Papp says that Patrice Ciprelli bought EPO from him in 2007, specifying that it was for his wife. There are copies of e-mails to this effect. Jeannie Longo's name wasn't used, and Patrice Ciprelli was the trainer for other cyclists at the time.

I think it is no longer unreasonable to think that yet another cycling "legend" earned their palmares by doping.

Joe, did L'Equipe pay you for your story?
Is that what you meant by "slated for publishing elsewhere?"

Joe I am curious about the financial outcome of your career(s). When you got popped in cycling that upended your job as an athlete. popped again as a distributor. As that case came to maturity you gave requested information about customers and their shopping habits. Because people continue to make mistakes while buying and using PEDs your data appears to be not unlimited but more refined and measured than I had originally assumed.

If Longo is coming under pressure now due to a procedure from the UCI, was her name not part of your original disclosure? When you go full Wiki are you planning to write a book? This new level ,even if not confirmed has to give your involvement and knowledge of cycle doping new legs.

Because of when you got in and out of cycling as a rider I had been part of a group of gossipers about who you may have to give up in order to avoid extensive jail and fines. All of us who drank beer and speculated, as of now were wrong about who would get a call from the feds/police/fda/uci/wada...as of now or when your book comes out.

You have emails that the feds don't? wow. Your previous comments about Longo have new meaning

Why is Joe just NOW giving the 4 year old e-mails to L'Equipe?
Why now?
Is Joe working in concert with the USADA in this witch hunt slash smear job?
This is phenomenally fcked.

Sure hope the Feds are not involved in this one.
Very unprofessional.

It was good research job done by Damien Ressiot again. All is explained in the interview given by Papp to Ressiot. It's Ressiot who gave the name of Ciprielli, so Papp confirmed. L'Equipe published 2 full pages to Longo's story today (I read it all). Highly interesting: you guys in the States do not realise this woman is an icon in France.

Dont know if this was mentioned elsewhere, but here some interesting comments by Papp in today's l Equipe:

An American rider, winner of a Grand tour, introduced him to the Chinese Eposino providers

He has the names of 200 customers (have they been released? Sorry if my question is stupid)

The mails published by l Equipe have been identified as authentic by US authorities

May I ask you a question? What is actually your problem? Just explain in a few words what you're after. Legalise dope? If yes, I'll understand, but if not it doesn't bloody matter WHEN infos are released...or tell me when that should be done: immediately when discovered? 1year too late? 2 months too early?

This bolden statement has awoken and stirred many apologists (Polish, Dave Stoller, Fatandfast, etc) to this thread that this reference could be to the "most tested athlete in the world."

I find dishonesty in the Public Sector (Gov) one thousand times worse than dishonesty in Pro Sports.

And I would be one thousand times more proud to have my kid work in the Public Sector than be a Pro Athlete.

don't shoot too fast (though i'd have nothing against you happening to be right).

the reference to an 'american gt winner' introducing papp to the chinese epo maker, may have been referring to... not texas, not lemond, not hamsten ;)

who's left if the literal meaning is taken at face value, ...landis ?

When Joe was busted for his internet EPO/GH online operation back awhile ago, what happend to all of his records.

Feds/law enforcement assumeably would have asked for a subpoena to take control and seize the web site/domain, his business records, email correspondance and such. But also, it appears Joe has kept all of these records himself for some personal reasons and has copies also still?

Maybe he operated the site offshore while living in the US? And those records we unobtainable from an offshore operation that doesn't have to answer to a subpoena and judicial order in the US. But I would assume he gave it all up, his document/records/emails for some kind of deal and offer to help law enforcement and be a good alter boy now.

It sure is interesting how someone who was busted and plead a deal for internet sales of EPO/GH, that magically some emails and faxes appear between Joe and Ciprelli from 4yrs prior. Your average online internet dealer would be thrown in jail, prosecuted and sentenced to prison. You would never hear much of this anywhere.

Interesting...a plea agreement which the court sealed....hmmm...why does one do that?!?! OH, maybe to sting and catch others who are buying as part of the bigger fish net of athletes and doping in sports?!?!

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/cycling/news/story?id=4921727

"None of the customers was identified in court, and Houghton, Papp and his attorney, William Ward, declined to comment on terms of the plea agreement, which was sealed by the court. Often that is done if a defendant is cooperating with the government, but Ward and Houghton refused to say if that was the case."

Is saving your neck from a federal prison a bad thing, I mean seriously would you sing if it kept you out of prison or reduced your sentence? How do you know he isn't required under the terms of his agreement to cooperate with the investigation.

From what I can gather, Joe was busted for his internet EPO/GH online operation back in 2006-2007.

I can't find any details of how this all came about though. Are there any legal public records online, docket etc..for a case against him? I would assume his "meetings" and some deals being worked on and leniency was based off the internet operation and sale of goods for larger purposes law enforcement deemed more important than just him.

In that case, the Feds/law enforcement assumeably would have asked for a subpoena to take control and seize the web site/domain, his business records, email correspondance and such. But also, it appears Joe has kept all of these records himself for some personal reasons and has copies also still?

Accprding to Papp (in today s l equipe, I read the full interview) US authorities have all his docs/paperwork around his EPO salea business. Hence they know a lot. Apparently a court decision will be taken next month ( Joe, can you please confirm), and, Joe, you seem to be sh.t scared about the outcome (up to 10 years jail???).

As i understand it's Ressiot from l Equipe who contacted Papp and gave him half of the infos (it is well known Ressiot has famtastiv contacts with French AFLD - anti doping agency). Once questioned by Ressiot, and as Ressiot is a pro, he must have asked if Papp can prove what he is saying. So Papp sent him copies of mails, copies that have been handed over to US authorities ages ago.

Might even be USADA targetted Longo in the States for unexpected control, because they were aware of these transactions

Because it sure is interesting how 4yr old emails just magically appear between Joe and Ciprelli after he was busted for internet sales of illegal drugs. Your average online internet dealer would be thrown in jail, prosecuted and sentenced to prison. You would never hear much of this anywhere.

I'm sure you'd do the right thing and serve 10 years in a "federal pound me in the *** prison" (to quote Office Space).

The fact that you seem to enjoy the fact that his life might be destroyed just to set an example, because he broke the code of silence, is simply pathetic.

Your great hero Lance would probably be facing the same charges if it wasn't for his friends in high places and all the money he has. Just because Joe can't afford a million dollar defense doesn't mean he's deserves it more than Lance. At least he tries to change something about the doping culture of cycling (or that is what he would have us believe but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt).

And yes Lance has never tested positive yadiyadiyah blah...

Does anyone even take you seriously?
