We know he has been seen at the bus albeit briefly, as he cursed at a few reporters.

He certainly can't have a PR rep traveling with him , RSNT media folks don't seem to be doing anything....
and I suppose that it isn't realistic to think that Lance would offer his team.

Anyone think they may have questioned him and sent him off packing?

Maybe there IS a face-off occurring in some interrogation room between himself and Armstrong.

Nice pic LF! in a way we are witnessing a luau.

It appears Johan has a sense of humor about the mess he is in. He changed his location on Twitter to "Temporarily in Dubai"

:D

That, among quite a few other scenarios, is possible. IF he was served with a GJ subpoena, the feds could give him the option of chatting with them under oath instead of a GJ appearance. This is the type of scenario that could have played out with Hincapie in the other investigation, for example.

exactly.
We should have expected some photo ops with Lance, some media coverage from RSNT and sponsors...Johan tweeting about his team..normal kinds of DS things...TOTAL VOID.

Those who believe Johan was not served might try to come up with a reasonable explanation for the current turn of events. I sure can't..

Hmmm....could be Jetlag...a guy's gotta get his system in sync again after crossing half of the earth...not so?
Or, maybe he has the flu...and is lying down with a headache and ice pack on his forehead...
What else...? Let me think... ;)

Hmmm....could be code for:

"Lance, need to talk to you but the cellphone's been bugged. Sign into that email we set up together, write an email and keep it in Drafts." :D

Love it. Lance might think its code to ship in the girls and blow?

One thing more interesting than the Tour of Cali at the moment is "Where's Hog?" - could become an iPhone game?

You have to steer Hog away from the Feds in a crowded airport. Level 2 is to keep Hog in the team bus and avoid prying journalists.

Level 3 is get him back to Belgium.

So where is he? Why isn't anybody asking questions?

Does CyclingNews have reporters at the ToC? They could ask?

I assume the rest are friendly publications who won't rock the boat.

My friend at VN has still not gotten an answer to that question. My guess is that not only does team RS/N want to answer it, but they also don't want anyone printing that they're not answering it. Again, like I said, it's become one of those black hole questions. Everyone wants to know the answer, but the black hole always grabs hold of it before it reaches the ears of the TRSN pr people.

As I have said upstream, I've been in contact with two "mainstream cycling media" people who also want the very same question answered. Someone is making this story go away. Simple as that. The pressure not to even mention it must be immense.

What's strange is they'll print the 500-600 tests story but not this?

CyclingNews printed what they knew which is not much.

You'd think as the 500-600 story is being relayed they would also mention that his former team manger was arrested.

I sent a very direct email to Shane at Velonation, expressing my desire to see them follow-up on the current lack of existence of one Johan Bruyneel.

Men's Journal might do an article with Johan? He can take his shirt off and show his Belgium beer gut?

The story is all over Twitter buts what's interesting the Slowtwitch forums deleted 3 threads that were based on the arrest.

I'm not sure where Johan might be, but let's be honest: if my team was performing as poorly as RSNT at ATOC I'd hide in the bus too!

Question for the USA legal-eagles here:

If one were to observe a person receiving a Grand Jury subpoena, and Grand Jury proceedings being considered secret, would the press be obligated NOT to report on it?

Obviously they reported on observed situations of witnesses emerging from the Armstrong GJ.

Looking for legal reasons why the media might be so quiet on this issue.

Jens is doing well, which I am happy to see. But I can't see Johan making the call on that silly RS move to chase down the break in the stage before the TT. That was just silly.

There is a long thread about this on RBR. Dr. Falsetti (same as our Dr. Maserati??) has some good points.

Frankly, I cannot think that private individuals have that kind of sway, since this story would draw traffic, and traffic = page views = advertising $$.

Perhaps they have been asked by the feds to keep this quiet as to not intervene in an investigation. Just a thought, though I have no actual info to indicate that.

This Tour of California is being raced without radios. Some DS's were not happy, Johan included. So you are right - Johan had nothing to do with that chase. May have discussed it later in the day with Horner and Jens assuming they are the captains on the road.

As far as the Feds asking to keep this quiet - that makes sense. But they would ask JOHAN to keep it quiet FROM the press. I doubt the Feds have contacted any media types and told them to keep it quiet. That is a bit far fetched.

I find it very implausible that the Feds would reach out to media sources and request they silence a story about an investigation into cycling in doping...err...I mean doping in cycling. That would simply serve as even more reason for the press to make a story of it.

The press responds favorably to government requests to silence a story when it relates to imminent national security and sometimes when they don't want to tip off a dangerous murder suspect. Not because of a potential investigation into doping and doping related activities.

What about Team RadioShack? Would they call the media types and tell them to keep it quiet? Dangling a little future access to a couple of brothers in July?
