Last year we had the TT for the ages by Vingegaard (no time for back flips in the pool, it was TT recon & scraping paint of the bike instead)
.Will Visma risk going full nuclear? With a few days until the next big mountain test I think they'll go for it, so I've got my Oppenheimer googles and lead lined longjohns at the ready.

Apparently Vingo didn't even recon the route. No nuke today but survival mode. Teddy is more likely to nuke it today IMO.

So, what to make of this? Vingegaard didn't destroy the field, but I'd be worried if I were Pogacar. A narrow lead ahead of the high mountains.

Evenepoel could be more of a factor than expected if he keeps riding as well in the mountains as he did on Galibier

In the high mountains, they will go much earlier.

Vingo needs to be noticeably stronger than Pogi later in the race. Then he won't need super long-range attacks but can gain time gradually on climbs like Plateau de Beille, Isola or Nice TT. That being said, I'm not really convinced if he will be that strong later on, his form trajectory can actually go downwards at the end (for obvious reasons).

I am certainly impressed with Voldimort's ability to recover from such as nasty crash, not ride the TT bike much, not really pre ride the route, and still be where he is at. Doped but also pretty insane recovery - they should X-Ray him for electronic parts!!

He'll either decline because of lack of prep, or will improve because he will "race himself into shape" ... which I thought was no longer a thing

Seems like arrogance to me - or perhaps insecurity? After losing time to his big rival at high altitude then again in the TT, saying "he gained 7 minutes and 30 seconds during two stages towards the end of the Tour, so I'm not worried about the current time gap" is a slap in the face to Pogacar. Now I know not to just blame Richard Plugge.

He isn't the most intelligent rider in the peleton, is he? Well, he was a fisherman before, so I don't expect much from him. We shall see how well he does in a classic terrain next.

It's not exactly the most accurate translation, it's more along the lines of "it's not the end of the world, anything can still happen"

Yeah, and Pog has been known to have real bad days where he loses minutes. As has Remco for that matter.

I kinda hope it happens. Not for Jonas, but just to make the TDF more interesting. Also just a bad enough day to keep others in contention.

I don't understand why people don't trust him.

He said last year that the race wasn't going to be decided by seconds, and it was true. He is a man of his word.

It's a scientific miracle that the man is doing a Tour TT and coming 4th. What Visma is pumping into him is doing its job, but if he suddenly turns up with a full length beard or Dolly Parton size "appendages" then we know something's amiss.
