He still planted him on Ventoux.
Except he was still 5 mins down and got caught on the descent. Was he stronger that day, yes but Pog also didn’t go into the red since Vinge was so far behind and they had the descent to catch him. Vinge got yo-yo’d. All three, Carapaz, were equal in the final week mountains with none being able to drop the other despite attempts from all and Pog sprinting away from them at the finish.

Jumbo haven't announced the starters. Just a preliminary startlist from PCS or whatever. Plugge did mention Kuss, which would surprise me but Jumbo tend to stick to the plan. Tratnik says he wants to ride. Valter makes sense, as does Kelderman.
They were saying 8 riders yesterday on Sporza. Kuss, Foss, Bouwman, Valter are the names I remember. So I thought they had the startlist from Jumbo.

Which rider spot does he take? Yesterday they announced the starters but now Vingo also. Kuss still riding?
I think they will do some fitness tests and monitoring in weeks leading up to the race and decide.
For the riders that didn’t do the Tour they’ll have some prep race to look at as well.

if I were to bet i would say it’s Kuss because of the number of race days. but I don’t think they decide before they have to.

Actually for vineggard (and also pogacar) it's the perfect year to try tour and la vuelta double. There is an extra week between tour and vuelta, usually it's 4 weeks but this year 5, so it gives an extra week to do a training camp after some post-tdf rest.

And also for vinegaard , roglic will take the pressure off. He had his most dominant season, winning itzulia, dauphine and tour, he doesn't have to prove anything, he can try what it's like to go for 2 grand tours on a season without the pressure of the expectations of teams and fans on his shoulder. The team should focus on roglic.

It took froome several seasons to perfect the tour-vuelta preparation and do the double.
Even then, Froome only had Nibali (who to be fair was a great rider) and Zakarin who had specifically targeted the Vuelta. Gad Contador not ridden the Tour and ridden a Giro/Vuelta combo it could’ve ended up a different result.

That’s the difference with Froome’s win. Roglic, Remco, Ayuso, technically Carapaz and Mas (depending on their recovery), won’t have an intense duel with Pogacar in their legs and won’t have the fatigue build up.

He said that he already wanted to go to the Vuelta last year.
Where and when did he say that?

I mean, it makes a lot of sense to me. There's not anything to do for him after Tour de France apart from Lombardia, and he has proven he's not very good targetting that race. The Vuelta good serve as a race for him just like it did for Froome who also didn't have anything better to do and try to target it. Both riders loved the heat as well and pretty much isn't made for racing anything else than hard stage races.

So very good on him for doing that. Its a lot better than Tour of fricking Croatia.

Loosely translated from a live interview with Vingegaard: "Watt wise the time trial was not my best performance of this tour or last year's."

Interesting, since it is primarily the time trial people are going ape *** over. But then again, it was probably mainly because Pogacar couldn't compete.

Otherwise, a very interesting interview with his former DS, Christian Andersen.
