You say he is a great rider, but then bash him for beating Pogi on peak form. Bottom line facts show he has beaten him before on peak form.

He has won vs a pog who had a broken wrist during the tour (apperently for you that means peak pog) then its no point im sure you get that.... :tearsofjoy: No point. Gl

Yes, but MSR is notoriously hard to win, Sagan and Pogacar being two cases in point.

It sounded like you reckoned it would be as easy for him as anyone else. So far he hasn't been at his very best in the classics that suit him, so expecting him to do well in one that doesn't, seems a tad optimistic to me.

If you cant be objective or even talk about facts which are simple instead of finding your own narrative its no point. All the best:sweatsmile:

2022? Objectively last year Tadej was close until he died in the heat.

My original response, in a different thread, was to a post stating that Vingegaard probably cannot excel at monuments. I named MSR, LBL and Lombardia as winnable for him.

he was close cause he is tadej he rode with a broken wrist and when you say thats peak pogacar thats just not objective of far from reality im sorry my friend. Vingegaard beats carlos rodriques same amount this year like last year if not evne more this year the only outliner is pogacar isnt hurt.

When you say he is peak 2023 and expect me to take your serious thats just cmon now...be real atleast. A great rider always has been but time for a few vingegaard fans to sum it up what it only really is aswell.

1 win vs pog when he had broken wrist..
1 win when yeah you know that too...

I dont make it up it is what it is ...if he was somewhat close if not 2021. PN , this year whatever it might be entertaining but he has never been close to that and now also the numbers which tell us he did his best ride ever on stage 15 it just does again wether or not you liike it but guess what it wasnt close to pogacar still evne tho it was his best ride ever. I dont know what more to tell you if you still dont get it.

All the best take care :)

Here's a bit of a... well... "fun fact" would probably be the wrong term. Dramatic fact:

You know how Valgren has called him his "protege", and the two have several things in common?

Here's something else they have in common:

Near-fatal crashes while their respective wives were pregnant with child number 2. Though, in Valgren's case, his wife was much closer to giving birth.

Frida better not be hit by a car, and break her leg!

But what makes you think he has a chance in MSR?
I believe he is capable of arriving at the top of the Poggio with the strongest. After that, you need a bit of luck, of course. But he would be hard to catch if he managed to get away "op kousenvoeten" somewhere.

It wouldn't matter if she broke her leg. Pogačar would still be stronger than her.

Still did not answer my question about 2022 but whatever. I still strongly think Vingegaard could heat Pogi on peak form if he’s on peak form so agree to disagree.

i said see what jumbo themself said about 2022 and stop drawing your own narratives...this stuff isnt hard.

Well if you think that based on what we know thats magical thinking at best. Not based on any reliably facts at all nvm numbers which you also ignore. How convienient hehe. Nvm its fine dude doesnt matter. Think what you want.

Until he decides to give it a try, if he ever does, I will continue to doubt he has much chance there. The Ardennes and Lombardia, maybe even RVV, should be something he targets, as long as he's on his current level, cause one day it might be too late.

Jonas says it's over. He did well for 2 1/2 weeks, but there's nothing left now, and he hopes to hang on to second place.

Imho what he is doing is simply disgusting. Go congratulate Pog, share a few thought after the stage and then, by all means, go cry in your wife's lap (nothing wrong with that). But at the line... Come on...
To put it like this... he sure knows where the cameras are.

Vingo's literally saying he's did "the ride of a lifetime" on PdB, Pog saying Vingo did the same on Stage 11, but some people here just cannot bring themselves to accept that Vingo was at his best at least on those stages.
What exactly were you people expecting Vingo to do on PdB? Beat Pantani by FOUR minutes? Fire lightning bolts from his arse? What?
Vinge was at his best and threw everything he had on PdB. Crash or no crash.

Now it is more of a mental collapse we are seeing. Evidently by the images today.

He is taking it hard.

He wasn't at his best in neither case, and pushing big numbers on Plateau de beille is not any indication of that due to some clinical issues.

The signals were all there, lack of explosion, trouble in long climbs, he weighs even less because he lost a lot of muscular mass. I overestimated a lot what he could do on this Tour, but that's natural being super emotional and have a BIAS when you talk about your favourite rider.

Yeah, it's probably hard for any of us to shed all the bias in favour of our favorite teams, riders, players, etc. Fans develop a very emotional investment in sport. It's often hard to admit when a rival athlete or team is actually better.
In the end, it doesn't matter. It just gives us fodder for message board discussion until the next race.

Personally, in race situations where I have gone deep ... like really, really deep, as deep as I could physically go ... I find profound and surprising emotional experiences. There was one such race where at the finish merely thinking about my daughters (my family was not there) prompted overwhelming emotions and I started crying. I guess some folks here would tell me I should be embarrassed by that and I'm a girly-man or something, but I just found it to be an interesting part of being human.
No shame in crying. Many sportsmen cry, e.g., after missing a penalty in a penalty shootout. Roglic was almost crying after he lost the TdF. It is part of being a human. However in all of these situations their teammates were the ones consoling them. It is sports after all. And I figured they went home and cried in their wife's lap for a week. But at the line right after the stage... come on...
Seriously; not sure you know what a man is. Considering how much pain it took to get here the final recognition that his best is gone for this year. It's possible he'll struggle to ever get it back.
Yes, very much so. He can lick his wounds until next year and be all emotional all he wants. But as I said above doing it at the line is not a good look in my opinion. You are at a sports event, be a sportsmen.
