Brailsford might be out of touch with the rest of the staff at SKY. Most think JTL is a doper and hope this goes away as quickly and quietly as possible.

I was under the impression they were going to hire Ashenden. Either what I heard was wrong, which I doubt, or Ashenden saw the numbers and backed out

Good grief. Maybe I am reading this wrong but this seems an utter indictment of marginal gains / wonder coach Brailsford / team unity.

If they think he is a doper wtf are they doing hiring him?

Do you perhaps mean Ashenden was hired, did the work but couldn't give them anything useful (anti-doping PR wise) so they didn't trumpet the fact from the parapets?

You are reading too much into it. It does not appear they did enough due diligence prior to hiring him to come to any conclusion.

The sentiment from the folks I have talked to is his issues are due to doping. Brailsford might not share that opinion, or might not know that others think that way, or he is spinning. Most likely he is spinning.

I don't know why nothing came of Ashenden. Many possibilities why we have not heard anything from him on this. Perhaps he was never hired.

JTL is in trouble. It is one thing to get a letter, the UCI sends lots of those out, it is quite another to have a Biopassport case opened. There are very few of those and the UCI wins them.

You don't even trigger the passport unless there is a 99.9% probability of abnormality. The panel looked at it, issued a please explain, looked at it again after he made up some excuse and gave the go ahead to initiate a violation.

I can't think of any (other) reason for such a remarkable blood abnormality a couple of days before a race he performed very well at.

If Brailsford doesn't think that's doping then he's a moron, but I think he's smarter than that.

The narrative that this team are on the cutting edge of marginal gains, and that Dave Brailsford is some incredible super coach, and you just wave all this off with "they didn't do enough due diligence".

Remember Leindeers? Lack of due diligence there too?

And all the not too distant past ejection of employees who doped and were hired by the ZTP team?

And apparently I am reading too much into it.

Gotcha.

This only confirms my belief that riders could dope on Team Sky, get (medical) help to keep their passports solid - from someone like Leindeers, for instance - and Brailsford et al would not have a clue.

Not a single one.

Again I suggest you read what I actually wrote and not invent something.

vs

"They didn't do enough due diligence".

Thought that hair was too fine to split, but it looks like you pulled it off.

^^ This

JTL is toast. BP case opened means they are so sure he's guilty, it's not even funny.

PMSL, I dont know why DW but this made me chuckle. I just for some reason have a vision of Jim Carey in my head saying this.

Totally agree, its all a facade re Brailsfraud and how he is the leader of this awesome team.

Brailsford knows JTL's excuse for the low retics about hitting the drink the day before the test is full of BS. That's not going to wash with no one unless he's totally incompetent.

3 experts flagged this up. He's done for.

It would be interesting if he tells all in return for a reduced sentence.

From his perspective, there is little point, if he was doping (as is the most likely explanation) then he is not likely to get another contract because without dope his doesnt seem good enough, he will know little about any doping at Sky if in the unlikely case there is any, no he will dissapear back into obscurity

Are you suggesting they wanted Ashenden to defend JTL's blood values?

Ashenden wouldn't have to defend the profile, just provide a plausible explanation for its weirdness, preferably backed by some sciency stuff and his good name.

and if its true then (well apart from it not actually scientifically working for him) where's there nutella avoiding patter now? Hammered a couple of days before the worlds? Where, who with how much....

Stannard was going well...were you both out on a bender??? :)

Team Sky have been on a bender for a long time ;)

Because of this, if he knows anything, he'll talk.

I think Brailford is protecting JTL. He did earmark him for the WC race early as April '12.

He was at the Sky training camps at the invitation of DB.

He got caught doping whilst with Sky after Endura handed him over.

There is blood on his hands so I understand why Brailsford is protecting JTL and not kicking him to the curb.

Once JTL is suspended what then? Sky will have to cut his contract. Then he may spill the beans on what really went on. Or paid off?

What a sordid mess.

straw theory

i often read 'strawman' in posts but here it appears members are clutching at straws hoping that JTL has much to tell about team sky and when banned will
be eager to do so

JTL did what he did to move on up................. it is unlikely that team sky were involved

But they are involved.
