Alaphilipe found a nest for the next few years, let is see if he honors that choice with good wins. The art of being first when you are strong to be depends often in how much a good team get you to the place where you can make a difference.

Alaphillipe > Kwaitkowski?

Alaphillipe can do a lot of the same things such a great prologues/short TT's, hills, walls, reduced sprints and now even MTFs. We only need to see him on the cobbles.

Will have surpassed Kwiat by the end of the year. New Valverde? Certainly looks like the type of rider.

Yep. First I thought he was a versatile sprinter like Mezgec or Matthews. After the Ardennes classics, I had to upgrade him to a Rebellin/Gilbert-ish puncheur type. Now he is getting closer to become the next Valverde.

Only 10 seconds off the Horner/levi ascent of Mt Baldy.

Could be the next Valverde.

Depends. There is one question we need to ask him before we know that.

We have to wait for the Tour 2016 to see that.

Didn't Brailsford say he wants to win the Tour with a French guy? Under the tutelage of Kerrison, Julian could make some waves.

This guy riding for Sky would be such a sad sight.

Gladly he extended with Quickstep a few weeks ago. :p

This win must have been fuelled from that.

He gone from a top class U23 cyclocrosser:

To nearly winning the GC at the AToC:

I donot think he is a GC contender. Essentially its only one stage of the TOC which equates to a one day race like LBL as well albeit a little mountainous

That said, it shouldn't be the biggest surprise that he can actually climb well (it's just that he had never done it before). He showed in the classics that he has a very good engine and he is only 61 kg (same as Henao), so it's quite logical that the guy can climb.
