I would be happy to take Cattaneo, Cavagna, Lampaert as my TDF doms. But there is a limit to how many of these workhorses you can utilize.

I don't understand why the merger isn't happening with Lotto. Those teams are much closer in spirit and they already swap sponsors all the time. Just keep the top 5 lotto riders and merge into the Wolfpack, and you might actually have enough firepower to challenge in the classics.
I see what you mean but they already challenge the classics pretty well. There is also Van Wilder and Bagioli

because Plugge probably does not want to get the unstable Lotto team, Ewan, Heulot and co.
Lefevere and Plugge are more ruthless and lead 2 of the best teams in the WT. and probably Lotto wouldn't be pumping as much money as Soudal

None of them can up and leave if they don't like the situation, unless they have a clause in their contracts. If they want out they would have to agree a fee with JV to release them.
I don't know their contracts and I doubt you do either?

But if you have a contract with X and X becomes Y, then legally it seems Y is a new entity. I am reaching here, but you catch my drift I think.

🙃😀

Never said i did.

either way you are correct and only riders on team X becoming Y would be free to leave.

But just like how intermarche found a loophole to buy CCC's license when they folded, JV could find a loophole too

You'll have more to base your guesses on when the UCI publishes the list of license applicants for 2024. Should be early October?? Do they publish a list of those needing an extension?

It's just that if you put together on what was going on behind the scenes, then you can be rather sure something will happen. As on why it's more likely, for the merger to happen with JV, well, it just makes sense for all parties involved. As for individual riders. Here the situation is a bit moot and hard to predict the final outcome. We'll see.
