Jumbo/QS will be a bit stronger BUT they will have to jettison riders because of rider limits, salaries budget and some of their good riders will leave for more opportunities - I posted a week or two ago that some teams have left roster spots open in case the merger goes ahead.

surely if the merger happens, the insiders in the peloton would have know or guessed or heard so some teams left some spots open

There are about 50 riders involved, just from the main teams, and everybody cant ride for this new team.

Hypothetically, Ineos and Movistar still have a bunch of spots open for all the excess riders. Still, businesswise this is a logistical nightmare with a severe time constraint. Makes me doubtful

This merger makes sense. Remco and Wout are among the two best domestiques in the peloton. Jonas would have great support then. And if Remco does really well, they might even let him win the Vuelta! Win-win.

If this merger happens it'll be one of the craziest, most what-the-hell moments I've ever seen in cycling, i.e. since I started watching in the mid-90's.

Only the clinical downfalls & tragedies of the 2000's equalled this story. This is big. But I still don't believe it.

There's no way Plugge lets Evenepoel slip through his fingers if this merger goes through. No way. He's the prize here.

It's like besieging the ancient city of Troy & letting Helen escape out the backdoor. No way. Evenepoel has to be what they're after.
