They shouldn't be relevant, but the constant nasty, personal nature of some members' posts makes them relevant.

We are pretty lucky to have the subject of the thread willing to engage with us. Debate...sure..take his words with a grain of salt. But the ridiculous attacks are tiresome and unpleasant for everyone.

JV, I'm genuinely curious about the Pettis issue....has it come up internally?

Why couldn't he have had crazy adaptive physiology as some have put forth?

Brings a whole new element to the table, eh? When you actually have to live with what you've done and said in a public setting...

Transparency is a one way street for the champions of hypocrisy, like Digger and the rest of the anonymous bully gang that reside here.

But that's what this place has become. Unfortunately. At least unfortunately for the posters that I see asking real and pertinent questions.

you seem to manage fine by constantly contradicting yourself in the cesspit of professional cycling....

Considering you claim to have dedicated your life to anti doping, what have you done for anti doping in 2014?

zzzzzzzzing!

You come into the clinic offering very little but smoke and mirrors.

The clinic is for doping related elements of the sport of cycling of which you partook and were never sanctioned for, nor paid back any of those cheated earnings and yet you offer so little information relating to this side of the sport, which only the stupid and blind cant see is still an enourmous part of the sport, which is not being addressed.

Then you call those who dont agree with your point of view names, like coward and bullies and this from a doper and acheat and you get angry. Jeez talk about ego!!!

You offer little transparency to fans, your bunch of USPS dopers got an easy 6 months ban for their part and only when the feds came knocking and we only got to hear about Hesjedal's doping (which most figured) due to Rasmussen, such is the transparency at Garmin.

Stop thinking you can come in here for a few laughs at the expense of 12 members of an echo chamber, cause all you do is make yourself look petty and egotistical.

Again with the anonymity thing. Yawn.

For the vasy majority of people here, names are irrelevant. If we say something we really shouldn't, we can still be prosecuted very easily no matter how "anonymous" we think we are. If Digger's real identity was revealed, that wouldn't change a thing about the validity, or lack thereof, of what he says. Why would you want anyone who's not a public figure to reveal their absolutely irrelevant and unimportant identities is beyond me.

Question for JV:

I recently spent some time with somebody working for a current pro team (not yours!) who told me that results were being heavily influenced by the work of a particular clinic in California.

Have you heard about this?

Nope. Haven't heard that. But if it's serious, I can get you in touch with authorities that can investigate it properly.

Check out JV's twitter stream some time - his real name being known / used doesn't stop him from being nasty - often spontaneously ie without provocation - to other people.

So this is a lot of horse manure which doesn't get at the point of the thread. Seems dumb to go on about it, unless one is intentionally trying to change the subject and make it about the person instead of the content of their posts.

+infinity.

Gentle(wo)men,
I will reiturate Afranks warning from yesterday....it is not acceptable to name drop members here even if known in other public domains, nor to deliver personal attacks and abuse.

It is also not acceptable to cruise the forum looking for a fight, or to hound other members

Please desist

cheers

I know! It's like the block feature on twitter. But then somehow Digger keeps popping up in my timeline anyway. Like an undead Zombie or something.

Personally I would welcome it if you could start to use the ignore feature on some members here. Each time there is potential for an interesting discussion you get dragged into this back and forth with the usual suspects. I stopped reading their posts since it feels like I've read it before a hundred times.

You could try to use your own personal ignore feature. But I think it would be difficult to not reply to posts directed to you. Hence why the forum feature would be better.

If you start using it, we hopefully wouldn't have to wade trough all the usual nonsense.

As for digger, perhaps it works better here, so the clinic can be a sanctuary for you when you need a break from the nasty world of twitter.:D

It's really boring to read post after post attacking JV in the ask JV stuff thread in hopes that you can make him cry or something along the lines of that instead of exposing crap he does elsewhere. I guess it's a good idea to try and run him off though, for personal vendetta issues, instead of using him as a resource or connection for insight (despite how it migh be poor insight) that some of us don't have so we can hear from notoriously drab posters who have made the personalities they want to be acknowledged as the defacto negative center of the galaxy.

You could literally just make posts in another about how JV is a buthead, and let people pester him in this one.

I guess it's cool to get real personal and tough all up until someone calls you your birth name.

Dude seriously? CV (aka Yard Stick) took the **** out of Floyd and now has a job announcing cycling. WTF. Floyd got thrown well under the bus by his peers at Garmin and JV was the Leader of them.

Actually, Christian asked me and tried to convince me we should hire Floyd post suspension. CVV was one of the few that spoke up to me about it not being fair. I was the one who ultimately decided we weren't going to hire Floyd. The funny thing is, we were the only team in cycling that even considered this. That actually even thought about it. The rest never even gave it a first thought, much less second.

Yet.... We are to blame. Funny.

What made CVV lash out at Landis then? Purely learned cynicism after so many years in the pro peloton?

Pretty much.. Its just indoctrinated into them or something.

All of the instances Digger mentions of guys saying stupid ****, believe me, I was aware when it happened and came down on them like a **** ton of bricks. Made me sick some of the crap they said. And I let them know. Which probably helps with my reputation as a bit of a ******* when it comes to management!

But I don't fire guys over dumb statements. I know what they feel when the doors are closed. I get that it doesn't always come out right in interviews. So, I let them know I'm angry and then move on.

believe me, my riders saying dumb things is not just limited to Floyd. Just look at DM not getting selected for the Tour this year! Holy moly... he wound up the public like no tomorrow with his statements.

I also think if you look at what my guys said relative to the rest of the peloton's reaction was. Or relative to what the UCI's reaction was....that you'll find we were some of the few that were attempting to be balanced. But when you look at it in a vacuum of Garmin bashing, like Digger does, then of course, you will see it as that we made stupid statements at the time.

I know that when Floyd went public I told the guys "We are not bashing Floyd. We are not saying anything negative about him"....But of course, some riders weren't at the race (Millar for example) and so didn't get the message until later....And so he said stuff that I would have never allowed had I gotten to him before the mad frenzy of reporters.

Why was their first reaction to be negative? I don't know. But it was disappointing to me. I think they all understand how bad that was now. But most of them feared Lance much more than they feared me, even when I was their employer.

While we are on dm, which category do his comments a few years back about how he knows contador is clean because it's impossible to ride as fast as contador was going unless you are clean, fit. Are they also comments which he didn't really mean and came out bad? how is it possiblento say something like that and mean something else. Or is he just pro omerta. I got nothing much against the rest of Garmin but having that massive hypocrite who has been for over a decade in all his actions and words a living breathing insult to clean sport on your team accounts for a very large part of the scepticism people feel to your team.

Also, remember, this was a time when Lance was actively talking to my boss about removing me and joining forces. Also talking to my riders about new contracts... Flying Taylor Phinney around in private jets to Aspen. i don't think my riders thought I'd survive the storm with my overly idealistic position. Lance held more cards than I did in their opinion. My ousting was more likely.

Luckily, my boss has some pretty strong resolve.

I don't know. I really don't. Dave and I don't speak much anymore.

He is the only cyclist to ever have served on the WADA athlete's commission. His work there, by all accounts, has been very good.
