JV talks, sort of

Page 269 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
If Hog goes and observes for the Clinic, that's good enough for me. Surely some credit to JV for offering that prospect.
He has faced lgit questions here but some pretty personal abuse too. Fair play to him for sticking around. I don't see Brailsford in here. Or Kerrison.

ABN-AMRO was purchased in 2008 by SRB (I think?) ending our sponsorship with them.

In October 2007, a consortium of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group(RBS), Fortis and Banco Santander, known as RFS Holdings B.V. acquired ABN-AMRO, in what was the world's biggest bank takeover to date. Consequently, the bank was divided into three parts, each owned by one of the members of the consortium. However, RBS and Fortis soon ran into serious trouble: the large debt created to fund the takeover had depleted the banks' reserves just as the financial crisis of 2007–2010 started. As a result, the Dutch government stepped-in and bailed out Fortis in October 2008, before splitting ABN AMRO's Dutch assets (which had primarily been allocated to Fortis) from those owned by RBS, which were effectively assumed by the UK government due to its bail-out of the British bank. The operations owned by Santander, notably those in Italy and Brazil, were merged with Santander, sold or eliminated.

alot (me especially) cannot/will not, believe one can achieve success in cycling without PED.

alot (me especially) have no major gripe or value judgement, wrt to the doping. I can see the exigencies of running a business and competing on two fronts, commercial endorsement market, and professional sport, has a unique suite of factors influence(ing) operation.

alot (me especially ) realise competing on the road, which determines your ability to manage the media clients, is not for only you to control. It is triangulate within an environment that has had a history of PEDs from the beginning.

Millions of pragmatic fans (including me) who enjoy professional cycling as sports entertainment can live with this.

JV's "I don't know" is fine on twitter, but a bit lame in here.
he damn well knows.
and he should care more, as well.
he should be worried about froome's lies wrt bilharzia, for instance, but he doesn't seem to care. odd. froome is beating his riders.

I'm well up for it only if it stays as a thread in the clinic. I'm not going down the Walsh path. I'll go in with an open mind and report fairly. With humour!

Let's see what comes and if the offer is genuine.

I appreciate that JV comes in here and engage ( though i am not particularly a fan as i have told him and he explained his postion then) but aren't we getting to hostile/aggresive on him a tad..sometimes.
He hasnt been here since he started on his ADHD medication Zam, so, dont worry.

edit: the boy has returned!

Thats why 99% was kissing @rse...

I can understand why JV gets frustrated as everyone seems more interested in asking him about Froome/SKY rather than his own team.

I think JV was as diplomatic as he could possible be about Froome on Madone but reading between the lines, it is clear he is very skeptical. I would imagine JV is more interested in how his own 30 riders are performing rather than what the opposition are doing.

I cannot remember who it was that said if you spent your energy worrying about what others are doing, then you are already defeated.

Precisely. He literally cannot be more scathing that he was without getting sued.

Armstrong ruined that for everyone. Its bad PR to sue the haters now.

But yes, its understandable.

If sky sued me I would call Leinders as my first witness :D

Go f yourself, enough guys on here who saw how mister super duper Jonathan fregging Vaughters namecalled members on this forum for things you and I would get a ban here.

If he would said irl he would have had problems with his nice shades.

So, please, STFU with your moral judgement. JV has tried to bully this forum, you and other @rse kissers just did not see that....

Considering Froome is currently dating the ravenous bugblatter beast of traal, getting sued by her is a real possibility.
Jokes aside, I don't think I've ever known anyone to be as relentlessly mocked in cycling as her. Even my Sky fan friends openly admit she's just so far off the deep end that it's difficult to believe unless you see her insanity for yourself.

So yeah, JV has to watch out.

Haha, your kidding. JV came here and a few posters were overly aggressive and disrepectful toward him. When he gave it back, people got bent out of shape.

Ever hear the saying, treat people as you yourself would like to be treated.

Many pointed this out. I wonder if you can do us a favor, i know this ain't your job though.

Can you ask Brailsford why he said multiple attacks aren't possible anymore in the clean era but Froome is doing it every time?

That would be very nice of you :)

This is one of my nagging questions. I do believe that Brailsford changes his comments to fit the times.
Everything he's said before though is on record but he never seems to be actually confronted with his previous statements.

And yes..Zam is totally spot on..if you want to have JV come here and seriously answer your questions than the few that are being aggressive and antagonistic should learn some manners and act in a mature fashion. That is not defined as @ss-kissing

You may not agree with JV but acting superior or attacking does nothing and only brands those who do as immature Neanderthals..

and btw yes you can be confidant and straightforward and at the same time be somewhat thin-skinned. I totally get that. So shut up

Can we also call 'adaptive talent', 'PED response'?
the sports gene david epstein, pretty banal, nytimes bestseller proves a banality, but it talks about adaptation, just not doping

I have said this before. But I gotta say it again.

Can anyone name another DS who comes on here/twitter. And actually trie to answer questions?

JV has to be as diplomatic as need be. He IS in the business of pro cycling. So if he hammers SKY/Froome or any other team/rider. He will have to answer for it. Each team is separate. However they all are in the same Business. Cycling. And so when the sea is high it rises all boat$.

For me to have a DS comment on here is a privilege. He does not have to. Just like the rest of them. So fire away. As long as we & he keep it classy it is all good.

You mean all the ones which English is not a first language?

And JV is not DS. He's team manager, business manager. Let your eyes longer over the word business.

But yes agree, it's good that he fronts up to the fans.

Mark Madiot tells are more direct picture of procycling.

you need to parse "being transparent with generous offers of indulging the questions from trollboys" to an "edward bernays school of PR and spin".

attempting to be "seen to be transparent and answer probing questions with no obfuscation" is not the same as being transparent and answering the probing questions.

i just dont know JV's motive. But it is good entertainment, and (for me to) throw a few harmless grimm bros bluestone bridge ogres in his direction.

i am just hear for the laffs humour and entertainment. occasionally i will throw up a probing question or point.

but i dont take cycling too seriously anymore, because i had invested time and effort in it, and was completely naive for the doping. no more no more

Hog you've changed. A few rice cakes and jv meeting you at the airport and you'll be writing books 'inside team Garmin.' There will be a special chapter on your bromance with Millar.

Brush up on your bible references.
