It doesn't have to be about believing JV, but simply taking note of his comments and adding them to the overall tapestry.
Which is why I always rallied for an environment here that would encourage JV to post, as to opposed to what eventually transpired.
This was/is often confused with my endorsement of all-things-JV. But that's not the case. If the guy has something to say, I'd just as soon let him say it.
But attacking his every word and deed has done little to sustain that flow of info/gossip...as evidenced by this thread itself.

Still better than nothing, right?Benotti69 said:JV gave nothing to the clinic, except 2 slips of his ego about 2 riders that CN ran a story on.
Apart from that JV played the clinic to suit himself. He was not coming here to enlighten us with insider information. Raceradio and others have given infinitely more insider information than JV.

Like what we get from any other manager out there...
Do you prefer he never writes here again?Benotti69 said:I dont know of any other managers out there with the gall to pronounce they have dedicated their life to anti doping and JV coming to 'hang out' in the clinic was part of his 'schtick'.....
JV is so anti doping he told no one about Hesjedal, Rasmussen had to tell us.

So of the two choices:Benotti69 said:I prefer if he takes the trouble to post in the clinic that it is worthwhile and informative rather than an extension of the fluff he tweets.

comes in here spilling some small beans that he knows he can spill without damaging his team.
Tries to get some quazi-skeptic posters on his hand.
And yes, it is about believing him.
Many have chosen to believe him for the simple fact that he comes in here.
No doubt he anticipated that.
Meanwhile we've heard nothing of substance from him on truly urgent doping matters.
Previously sceptic posters who really dug hard on Lance and USPS are now paying lipservice to JV and Hesjedal and so are guys like David Walsh and many others.
He's slowly but surely dragging everybody into maintaining that cycling has changed. New era. blabla.
Meanwhile he's not propelling the real change that cycling needs. He's happy how it is as long as nobody on his team gets caught.
Let's not beat around the bush just for the sake of JV posting in here.
argh... Will Geoghagen was pretty funny, so was Arnie Baker, he replied to a post I made with a threatening subtext, and I sent him a pm said I assumed it was him and his handle was but sockpuppet, and told him what I was aware of. That sockpuppet never posted again. I suppose he needed to get his cokebottle lenses attunedD-Queued said:Where were you when Floyd and Will were promoting their BS on DPF?
Now that deserved far more critical response and from far more people than it received.
Dave.

JV's messaging is brilliant and it appears the UCI has finally caught on.

I dont mind JV anymore.Benotti69 said:JV can do as he so chooses.
I dont much care for the majority of what he has posted. I will still call him out on his so called dedication to anti-doping......
He still reads here of that i am sure.
I prefer that if he is going to contribute, it is worthwhile to fans and offers as real insiders view and knowledge.
When JV has been questioned in here on some important aspects of the sport relating to him and his team he mostly obfuscated, just wrote babble or abused posters.
* my "a" truthblackcat said:I dont mind JV anymore.
I can ascertain "a" truth. My truth is pretty similar, or exactly the same to yours Benotti69.
I think he denied it before, but JV is definitely a politician. I remember him saying Doug Ellis was bullish when he was doing the TIACreff super funds sponsor div 3 amateur team around Europe, and DEllis had his Wall Street money from his bloombergish info systems work, and DEllis wanted to put the money in and take Slipstream and TIAACref or TIACref to July and Amaury. I reckon that might have been a bit of BS, and JV, ambitious as he is, hit up DEllis to be patron for the team, and sold him on the vision. DEllis I remember referring to Levi as Levi and the first name basis, but DEllis was not shooting the $hit on an interwebz forum, he was a team principal. Seemed like he was just another groupie with deep pockets that JV had managed to lock in. mid life crisis?
Nah, JV is ok, but he is def on the make. And if people want to swallow the Bernays PR holus bolus, so be it. they would be in the majority with their belief, so more power to them in that herd mentality.
But JV cant hurt, he is spruiking a realism, and the sport jumped the shark a long while back

the conversation with Landis I had in Geelong he managed to disabuse the anecdote of the hog pouring his blood down the faucet(sic) of some Francois hotel
