It was Armstrong keeping Floyd on a string. Floyd was thinking about confessing all in 2008 and was already talking with investigators and the USADA in December 2009. Armstrong needed to keep the dream alive for Floyd so he wouldn't do anything stupid. Armstrong never had any intention of hiring Floyd. None the less Floyd kept the communication going at the direction of the investigation.

There is so much stuff floating around now. Where can I find some content supporting the idea that Floyd was cooperating with the feds for months before the March-April 2010 emails?

I had in total 16 blood tests in early december. Not ONE left a bruise.

Boogerd was always the eternal second place whiner...guess his program wasnt as good as some of the others...

Don't think that the following comment is a reflection on how believable I consider Boogerd to be, but I have had 1 recently, and boy did it bruise.
This. I've had like 30 in the past decade and like 10% resulted in a bruise.

There's a reason why Kimmage went over and scanned his body for needle marks. He knew what to look for.

Have you ever wondered why Frankie never followed the riders onto the team bus during the post-stage interviews? I mean, that's the pro cycling equiv of an ESPN reporter going into the locker room, right?

No team will ever let the press onto the team bus right after a stage ;)

Of course not. The transfusion, on the other hand...

Why do these guys always think they can fool us with trick answers?

I'm not saying i think he didn't dope, i'm just saying that i had bruises from it. I actually think Boogerd doped during his career, but his explanation is not impossible.

That was a good read. I finally got a few minutes to get through it. I wish Kimmage had spent a bit more time questioning Floyd's interaction with Lance before going public with the initial admissions/claims and this subsequent whistleblower lawsuit. But I suppose we all have agendas, no?

Boogerd went a bit too far in his explanation. He didn't need to mention his having been critical of Floyd's lack of respect for the yellow jersey. Would a TDF champ really accuse another guy of being a doper over an unflattering newspaper quote?

We were talking about "the other bruise". Landis mentioned that Boogerd came up to him and pointed, not said, "look I have one too". Landis claims "they" knew what it meant: that Boogerd had had a transfusion too.

He may well be right. But Boogerd's explanation is still a possible alternative explanation. So without anything said, which Landis admits, how can he guarantee, not guess, that that was what Boogerd's gesture meant.

We are back to the frustrating "no I never saw him actually use it" line. Possibly. Probably even, maybe.

But there are a couple of those "obviously....." accusations in Landis' piece that really irritated me. I have little doubt to think that he believes that is what happened. That ain't the same as "it can be only that".

I am praying that the most pressing smoking guns are gonna be a lot more solid than just about all that we have so far, I guess. Part of me can't wait until the fed's fact finders mission has run its course.

But I have seen a few of those "surely now" moments, and I have learned to temper my expectations and hopes. It should be an inevitable outcome, at last. It really should, you'd say.

I will believe it when I see it. I got those bruises still healing too.

Just to be clear, I think Boogerd is referring to the argument that Floyd mentions in his book. That was the day that Floyd let Pereiro escape and Rabobank wanted to chase but Floyd warned them against it saying, "Maybe Menchov is strong enough to win the Tour. But you if you work now and I keep the lead, then I'll just race so he loses. I promise you that."

"F-you, you can't do that." said Boogerd.

And on and on it went...

Touché!

Here's the rest though:

"They gave in and stopped working. It's funny to me when trash talking works. If I were them, I never would have listened to me"

He was playing mind games in defense of his anticipated victory, not preventing a rider, with no threat to the overall, from a taking an inconsequential (in the scheme of things) stage win. ;)

The "fed's facts" will NOT be the final word either.
Just the starting point for the defense to examine and cross examine.
And cross examine some more. Multiple sides to a story.
A California Jury will reach a decision (or get hung)
BTW, Me and flicker are in the jury pool bwahaha.
haha. ha.

It's still 'Lance-esque' even if he may not of followed through.

Not really. In part, Phonak did it because they were buddies with Pereiro. Armstrong isn't buddies with anybody!
The point wasn't to make Menchov lose, it was to get rid of the yellow jersey. It was in Landis's best interest to do it. It made sense, he didn't go out of his way to screw over anybody else for the sake of it.

Yes, that's news to me too, we now know from the interview that he was wanted to start "talking" in 2008, but there's no indication he did it before realizing he wouldn't be invited at the ToC, right ?

I've seen hints and indications that he began talking before his ToC debacle, and I've seen stuff about him wearing a wire to allow the feds to get into Mike Ball's apartment, but I've not yet seen anything concrete that says he was cooperating before he was trying to extort his way onto RadioShack. Or WAS he really trying to distort? I really want to know what he was doing WHEN. It will help me out in terms of my opinion.
