You have always felt Kimmage feels personally affronted by Sky after being denied being embedded with them in 2010. I wonder if inviting him back in, giving him the access and more importantly the recognition of him as a significant spokesman who's opinion they value may mellow his attitude to them. I would guess that is the gambit they are playing anyway. Even so he'll be acutely aware of the expectations on him, so I am certain he won't pull any punches. It is going to be fascinating.

I don't think he takes it personally. I think it's more a case of he might have been hopeful, like a lot of people when Sky arrived & made all the right noises about being clean & transparent, & then when he offered/asked to embed with them for the TdF to help them show how they were the future of Clean cycling, they told him for Feck off !

After that & the drip, drip, drip of revelations, I'd say he has rather jaundiced view of Sky & their claims.

If Sky are clean, then agreeing to give PK full access to their setup during the Tour, will be a huge step towards proving this. If they're not; it's Russian roulette with an Automatic !

Win, Win :D

What makes you people here think they are giving him full access? He had 3 hours with Froome on a Wednsday. Is all.

Just read the interview. Sky and his representatives advised Froome against the interview.

At the end of the article it says the full 3 hour interview will put up their website tomorrow. The paper had an hour and 20 mins of it.

A couple of extracts.

CF: The asthma hasn't changed - you can check with any of (my former) doctors - I have used inhalers since I was a teenager. The TUE? There are rules set out by the UCI: the team has followed those rules; I have followed those rules and I just think it's incredible that I can be criticised for the legitimate use of medication that I needed.

PK: And the criticism has come because your team are on the record as saying that they would not apply for TUEs and would set the standard.

CF: Yeah, but that was something I only found afterwards from David Walsh. He said: "Chris, do you realise..." The team had told him that they would never race with a TUE. But that was the first I ever heard of it. It was never put to me that this was the team policy. I asked Doctor Farrell about and he said, "No, that's never been a team policy." I don't know where the miscommunication is there.

The interview is pretty benign, CHris Foome, Kimmage and Cound.
50% of the interview is pleasantries about his up bringing etc... All tame and Froome disarms Kimmage with his "charm".

Cound says that he has cried in the past, over his mothers death but recently about the reaction of his TUE.

Kimmage probes him but never gets to scratch the surface and never lands any big punches.

Something to note, and you'll love this, Froome says he practiced his seated spinning hill attack in a wind tunnel to maximise the efficiency of the attack.

Tame interview with nothing new being thrown up. No summary from Kimmage about his opinion on Froome. Disappointing.

Article should be on the website in the afternoon as that is usually when it appears online.

Michelle had her say.

We have had zero communication from the UCI or WADA or anything on this. I sent an email to Brian Cookson - because he went and tweeted a whole load of fluff again yesterday - and I said to him: "Don't you think you owe Chris an apology here? Because Chris' reputation has been ruined here."

Agree, it's not a hard hitting interview by any stretch of the means.

Maybe tomorrow has the more probing questions. It's says at the end of the article it won't be on their website until then.

So this is part1 and part 2 will be on the website, or this is an overview of the whole.thing and the website will have the full thing or this was the first interview and there will be a second?

Yeah, no point printing the passing of pleasantries, takes up half the interview and yeah Froome doesn't use the wind tunnel for his TT position but his climbing attacks. Crazy when you consider the efficiency of his normal bike position and Kimmage swallows that BS.

At the end Kimmage says:

One hour and 20 minutes of the interview have passed. It feels we have barely started.

Then below it:

Paul Kimmage's full three hour interview with Chris Froome will be available on independent.ie from lunchtime tomorrow.

I presume that's the whole thing added on to the paper one today.

Let me guess, give it ten more minutes and Saint Kimmage will be denounced as a paid Sky shill, just like Walsh, because he isn't saying the things you want him to :D

Awesome.

For those looking for hard hitting, remember the Lawyers will have read the piece and pulled anything they think might see them in court over it.

Newspapers cannot afford to go to court these days especially when they are millions in debt as the Independent Newsgroup is.

That Froome claims to have not known that Sky's public policy was no TUEs. I guess he never bothered to read anything written by Sky or about Sky conveniently.

What a surprise. A catch-all get out from Benny.

Won many Tours recently? Or couldn't you find the time to do it in between posting on here?

Do you think that Froome spends his life on the internet? The guy is a pro athlete. He won't be interested in the slightest in Sky PR beyond finding it a PITA to have to turn up to corporate events.

...and then denounce all answers as lies, without presenting any evidence to demonstrate it.

A Hoggie speciality.

No, ask the right questions and let Froome answer and defend himself. Do we know Froome is any cleaner after this interview. No!

Except the BS about wind tunnels for his egg beater attack..

I expect him to read up and know what his team are saying and be part of the team and be a professional in interviews. Pro athlete's are expected to be able to communicate and give interviews. If he doesn't know his stuff he aint being professional...

How do you know what he is interested in?

What did Cookson tweet about Froome that has harmed his reputation?

I must have missed that one.

Froome was advised against doing the interview, and his woman disappears from twitter. I'd say that the team are trying to control the image, they sort of lost a bit control over it recently.

He's interested in winning. He won't care which team that is on as long as it gives him strong back-up.

Some of you guys are amazing. You squeal on and on about Sky not allowing Kimmage in, and then when they do (or Froome does) you denounce it and blame Kimmage. You are proving Brailsford absolutely right when he said "Its never enough"

Catch all.

No it wasn't. It was trolling.

Sounds like he don't care how he wins as long as he wins.

Only squealing is fanboys about their team getting called out time and time again.

Brailsford, the man's a fraud. He has been caught out so many times for lying. Where's Froomes vo2max? Brailsford promised it as soon as they got Froome into testing. He was testing his climbing position in a wind tunnel....
